The difference between Anker cables and a lot of the others I have tried is that Anker's stuff seems to last substantially longer. I last bought cables in 2014. Having used those two 10 Footers basically every day, with one in the office and then one at home, they have both finally worn out nearly four years later. If these were ethernet cables, you figure you plug them in once and they just kind of live there, so they're not very likely to break. But that mechanical wear down in and out of a device killed cheaper cables. Because I certainly had cables and other places before that. That I was having to buy a new one like every 8 months. So, from eight months to five or six times that for very slightly more in price.
Spend the money and get a durable cable. I have generally found Anker to be like a dollar more per cable, and I am happy to spend that every time.
Personally the only negative (if it should even be called that) is that I almost could not tell that the usb had the gold plating. At first look I mistook it as the wrong cord, but if you hold it under the light and compare to a regular usb, then you can tell the difference.
Original Review: I'm using the usb cable to plug in my controller since my router interferes with the bluetooth. At first the cable worked perfectly fine, now after a few weeks of use it loses connection when I move my controller despite the connectors still plugged into the port well and when playing a game those few seconds of trying to reconnect will get you killed. I've tested to see if maybe the port had gone bad but when using another cable that I've had for months and playing everything is fine, my controller doesn't disconnect at all no matter how much I move it. Other then that issue the cable feels nice and looks to be made of high quality materials. I guess it is fine for charging but not for constant connection while playing.
Update: The cable failed in about 2 months, but Anker Support was great and sent me a new one in just a couple days. Like I had seen mentioned in some reviews, the connection is super tight! I would NOT recommend you unplug it often after you initially plug it in, the connection will gradually loosen the more you mess with it until it reaches the point where it just falls out. I also imagine you could run the risk of damaging the charge port of a PS4 controller if you aren't gentle with any unplugging. So I am only lowering the rating by one star, simply because for me leaving the controller plugged in all the time wasn't a huge deal (10 feet is pretty long, it can reach anywhere I want to sit comfortably), and because Anker made it right.

Update
The customer support contacted me quickly and sent an upgraded version of the cable! Feels way sturdier, I will update the review as time goes by but it is a promising start! Great customer service.
##
The cable itself feels very high quality, especially the braided cord. The product, however, needs improvement in terms of build and durability.
Having used the cable for little less than a month, the connector has slightly bent under the weight of the cable itself. Moreover, the pins that hold it in place are already not functioning anymore, so it easily slips off the phone. I would guess this was caused by the weight of the cable putting too much strain on them, as well.
