The first unit I ordered had to be sent back because it stopped charging. The replacement charger I received did the exact same thing. I worked for the first day or two and then it just stopped charging. If I apply pressure to the charger it will charge the phone...so I think there might be a manufacturing tolerance issue.

This is hands down the WORST car charger I’ve ever had. My wife and I have an iPhone XS Max and this thing takes at LEAST 30 minutes, maybe longer to get a 1% increase in battery. Even when driving and having the phone locked, you’re lucky to get a bump in battery. I love Anker cables for wall chargers, but this thing is a joke. Take your money elsewhere and get a more powerful charger.

UPDATE: Anker reached out to me after my review and let me know they would be replacing both of my failed chargers. I received two new (red) replacement chargers which are both working at the moment. I’m really hoping they last. Just for this great customer service I’m giving them 5 stars. The chargers are great and charge faster than any of my others.

Orginal 1-star review: Won’t buy again. I had this same charger in white that lasted a year or so and I really like it because it charges fast and has what seems to be a strong cord. First one died unexpectedly. Lights up but stopped charging. Bought this one to replace it and in less than a month, same thing happened. Other chargers work in my truck so it’s not the outlet or the phone. Won’t be buying another one.

It worked at first, I got these because I had one similar that worked fine until someone took it. But this only lasted about a week on one side and totally quit after a month, didn't use it all the time but discovered it looks like the metal tabs on the phone end had come off. Was able to continue using it by flipping it around and plugging it in, but shortly that quit working as well. I would say you get an occasional defective device, but in this case with the metal tabs coming off, I would say it was poorly made to begin with and will look for something else.

Great Anker Customer Support and a quick replacement, when issue encountered

We are using this iPhone charger in our car, as it leaves our USB ports for other items to charge. The charger worked great for several months, but then I noticed that it was only charging on one side of the iPhone plugin to my phone. If we reversed/turned over that end in the iPhone, it quit charging.

I opened a ticket with Anker and was very impressed with their quick response. They did ask me to try a few other things, to rule out an intermittent issue with the charger and/or an issue with my car's 12W charger. None of these, including using in another vehicle, caused the charger to work on both sides/ends. I provided the update and Anker and they warrantied the charger and sent me a new replacement charger within a couple of days.
While I did end up with only a partially functioning, initial charger, Anker Customer Support provided a quick and new replacement that is working great!

It felt like a quality product until it stopped working after 3 weeks of very light usage. There's a little blue LED light the comes on when the charger is plugged into the cigarette lighter - this still comes on however it fails to charge my phone which is odd

Edit 1 - the company contacted me and were very helpful. They kindly sent me a replacement charger which I'll use. I'll update this review in 2 weeks

Edit 2 - the new charger they sent me works perfectly. I must say the customer service from Anker has been fantastic and I can definitely recommend this product.

I didn't want to review this item until I had tested it on a 330 mile (and return totalling 660 mile) journey I was about to embark on. I'm happy to report that this charger kept my phone charged 100% for the entire journey with the SatNav app operating.
The phone got slightly warm, but no problems at all.
The charger feels robust and I am very pleased with it.
A little blue light comes on when it is charging your phone.
I had previously bought a slightly cheaper car charger, but had to return it because it didn't actually work! I'm glad I ordered this one instead.

Have bought a few in car chargers over the past few years, some are plainly rubbish and don't charge the new series of apple (in my case) products and others are poorly made and don't last. This is none of those, the product is excellently made, moulded in once piece and nice and compact. the cable length is about perfect for what i use it for and the connection at the power point end is snug and secure. The only thing that stops it getting five stars is that the connector itself, that inserts into the iPhone, is a little fat (this would be the good quality bit, at a cost) but this fouls a little when using my gel case, so i tend to lift it aside in use, a minor niggle. When inserted without the case in the way, it is very secure.The power is completely sufficient to charge the new range of iPhone and iPad's.

Design issue.

Unfortunately the unit came apart on first use! The cap carrying the cable into the body of the charger broke away from the body exposing the wiring. Bit of insulation tape has restored the functionality. Also cable a little too short for practical use in the rear seats of a vehicle. Pity about the fragility of the unit as it looks good and provides competent charging.

It appears Anker pro-actively monitor feedback on Amazon and as a result contacted me to rectify the problem.
I was provided with a replacement unit within a couple of days of customer service contact, it is a slightly different design which would appear to cater for the vulnerability I described in the first unit.
So in two instances I am impressed, the replacement product would appear to be more robust in construction and the fact that customer services bothered to seek me out in relation to a relatively low budget product.
In most areas of manufacturing there will be rogue items so my measure of a company lies with their attitude towards 'customer service', do they try and wriggle and avoid responsibility or seek to put the matter right to the best of their ability. I see from other reviews that other customers have had similar pro-active customer service responses which is to be commended.
