This is my second car charger - I never owned one before (for some reason...).
However, in an emergency, I had bought a cheap $3 one from CVS (it was on clearance, and I really needed to charge my phone).

I had always used my car USB port to charge my phone (bad idea, super slow) so it opened up a whole new world for me.
My phone was charged to 50% in 10 minutes!
But sadly, the car charger died in 2 days.

So I got on Amazon and started searching - I was actually not fond of the idea of buying one since my first one had died on me so quickly but I decided to get this charger after reading all of the reviews.

This charger is great! it matches my car, feels sturdy, has more of a weight to it than other car chargers, and charges very fast.
My LG V20 charges from 20% to 100% in less than 45 minutes and I couldn't be happier.

Would highly recommend.

I have been using this almost daily for a couple of months and like it, but I don't love it. I had an amazon dual car charger that I was fairly happy with, but we needed a car charger for the back of our van, so I decided to move the amazon one to the back of the car and to get a smart-charger for the front of the car, since I use it a lot and wanted something that would possibly charge faster (not that I thought the amazon charger was slow or anything..I just wanted to upgrade). So I got this. It charges pretty quickly...my husband remarked that it charges faster than his car's USB slots. The only problem I have with this is it tends to slip out a little, so I find that about 30% of the time I plug my phone in, I have to push it back into the socket to connect my phone to power. That, of course, means that I have to check the connection every time I plug it in (my iphone sometimes doesn't ding when it starts charging, especially when I use the car chargers...don't know why that is). This is an issue that I did not have with the amazon charger...once that one was plugged in, it was in there tight. This one, not so much. It's not the biggest deal in the world, so I'm fairly happy with this charger, but it does take it down a star.

UPDATE: Anker contacted me a couple days later and promised me a completely fixed unit. 2 days later I see a package in the mailbox. I didn't hesitant to throw it on the electronic load and plug it into the car for a good drive. Lo and behold, everything is fixed. The center spring was less "springy" the side springs were hard as a rock, and the thermal design was much better. At 10v 3 amps the charger is equally hot (a good thing because the heat is actually getting out of the plastic case). It held a constant 4.8 amps at 5.03 volts for 8 hours. The charger is working fine without even picking up a screwdriver. Anker still hasn't failed me yet, words from a long time customer studying electrical engineering.

To start, I need to explain why it is getting 3 stars. The charger is built extremely well on the component level, but Anker's customer service and the lack of attention to detail semi ruined this charger for me. Let me explain what happened.

I bought the charger and it came in a week, pretty ridiculous when i'm located in the same state as Anker's shipping dept. I have Prime, but this isn't a prime item.

Then I plugged it into my car, all works fine didn't notice anything. Drove around and my phone started to vibrate like crazy, after some searching around, I found out that the center spring was way too strong. The side springs are too weak, and its making intermittent contact with the 12v socket.

I asked on Amazon if anyone has had this issue, and sure enough some people did. So I contacted Anker at support@ianker.com

They said I will need to ship it back, then when they receive it, they send another one. The turn around time was too long so I tried to just return it on Amazon. They didn't let me so I called Amazon customer service. They refunded my money and let me keep the charger.

Instead of letting it go to waste, I wanted to fix it. So here is the charger in pieces and under some extreme testing.

You can see the Input voltage of the charger I put at its min voltage of 10v. It draws quite a bit of current. 3.07 amps which turns into 30.5 watts going into the charger. However only ~25watts come out. You can pretty much calculate the efficiency right there at around Efficiency = (Vout*Iout)/Vin*Iin Which turn out a 82.2%

You have to trust me here but I did the same test on the high end, 24volts. The efficiency was 81.8%

The design and layout of the circuitry is not bad at all, although i couldn't find a datasheet on the main chip MPSF14/M5402M, everything else is quite high quality. You have a good quality solid state capacitor, which is rated 2000 hours at 105C. I have done a burn in test with this charger. 12 hours at full load. It got extremely hot but it's all working still.

Modifications I have done,

Cut the center spring 2mm shorter, cover the whole inside with thermal pads, to actually get the heat out. But I have to give Anker credit for the small piece of white thermal pad already in there.

Build quality is pretty nice, the inductor is siliconed, solder joints looks good.

Bottomline is, if this charger fits your car. Then your golden, if not and you don't know how to take it apart. Then your screwed.

FYI Both the Anker 4 port 48w and the old 24w power iq fit in my car's 12v socket.

I give 5 stars for AnkerDirect customer support and in particular Lancky their rep. My experience with this seller is unique and it started after I bought this very particular car charger. I was thinking this is a fast charger then after I tried it, for my disappointment I wrote a bad review about it thinking that the information given on amazon is not accurate. Customer support (Lancky) got back to me by email and explained in details the description. Because I was wrong, I modified my review (see below: About this charger) asking for nothing and I thought that would be it.
BUT for my greatest surprise, AnkerDirect suggested the following fast charger Anker Quick Charge 3.0 42W Dual USB Car Charger, PowerDrive+ 2 for Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4 and PowerIQ for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, LG, Nexus, HTC and More and they send if for me free of charge and they didn't even ask me to return the one I already bought.
I truly believe, that this company is very respectful and they treat their customers accordingly. Besides their materials are of great quality.

About this charger:
===============
Material wise, this product is robust, this is the reason why I am giving it the 4 stars.
keep in mind this is not a fast charger. It took about 2.5h to fully charge my s7 starting from 30%.
If you are looking for a fast charger this is not your product. But it is a high quality charger anyways.

They should have made a small low pass filter in the thing, small capacitor, small resister, to remove any feedback from the alternator when charging the phone and plugging the headphone jack in the car radio.

You hear buzzing noise as a result of mediocre design.

Overall, charges the phone pretty fast.

‘Update: 5/24/2017
Anker kept contacting me about the product. They sent another one which I tried and it was a little better than the previous one. For their exceptional customer service I added another star. They really care about their reputation and contacted me several times and asked me to do few tests.
This should not be a problem while charging and using bluetooth or hands free speaking. It may matter when you have an aux going into the car and charging at the same time. you hear a low buzz
Again, I still believe that Anker should have put a good low pass RC filter in there to eliminate the noise (expecting high quality from Anker products). Overall charges the phone rapidly just like a fast charging wall plug.

I already had another car charger, but I had won a discount coupon so I figured it couldn't hurt to try this one out - I can say I'm pleasantly surprised.

First off, and least important - aesthetics. It's smooth and shiny with a matte face - prominent "Anker" branding. Overall, it looks pretty nice. I think the red ring around the faceplate looks pretty slick.

I use this in my car (obviously) to drive a bluetooth receiver kit and to charge my phone when I need a bit of juice and it hasn't disappointed. It's a bit smaller than the one I replaced, which is nice, and it charges my Nexus 5 as fast as a wall plug - much faster than the charger I replaced.

Not much more I can say, really. It charges, it charges well, and it looks slick doing it. I'm really happy with it.

I love Anker products, and was very excited when I ordered this for my 2000 Silverado. It fits perfectly and has a low profile, which was just what I needed. After reading the product description and reviews, I was expecting it to charge my phone faster than the $5 gas station charger I was replacing. However, I haven't noticed any difference, and am a bit disappointed. I clocked it at 2 minutes to charge 1% on my iPhone 6 using the Apple cord that came with my phone, which really isn't any improvement from my cheap charger. I have noticed that my phone does not get as hot when it's charging, though, which is good.

All in all, it looks nice and it's handy to have two ports without taking up lots of room. Perhaps the charger I received was faulty, but it's not worth the effort to replace it.

***UPDATE***
Anker contacted me after I left this review and asked lots of questions about my charger. I could tell they were sincerely interested and wanted to help. They sent me a replacement, which works perfectly, and provided me with a shipping label do I could send the faulty on back. Thanks, Anker!

Anker 24W Dual USB Car Charger, PowerDrive 2 for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4, LG, Nexus, HTC and More

The product was as described and it arrived as promised. So far it is working as expected. The LED light is nice but it puts out a lot of light for something that small. You may need to rotate it in the socket if the light hits your eyes. I did not contact their customer support, but I am impressed with them. They want you to contact them immediately if there was a problem with the order or product. And they followed up via email to make sure everything was as expected. I appreciate that for something I paid less than $10 for. I will look for their products in the future when the need arises and recommend them to others.

Worthless junk. I bought this specifically to charge a USB-C phone while in my car (a Lumia 950xl) and it won't charge at all. Apparently the device being charged has to conform to the exact protocol provided by the charger and it doesn't know how to turn that off so it can just charge regularly. I confirmed it was the device and not the cable by plugging the cable directly into the USB ports in my car (which only offer 1A charging which is why I was looking for something that had 2.1A). I bought another charger and that works fine now so clearly the issue is this particular charger. Highly disappointed especially since I have other Anker products that I really like. Do not recommend.

UPDATE: Added a star simply due to their customer service and support. After writing the above review they offered to send me another one however I had already bought something else that works just fine with my phone. When I told them this and thanked them for the offer they then offered me a full refund which was very generous. I still like Anker and their products in general and would recommend them as a company (and I will continue to buy and use their products) just not this particular charger.
