Works well for 2016 15" MacBook Pro

Love this charger. Although there are no good options (aside from Apple) for a second 87w charger for the 2016 Touch Bar MacBook Pro 15", this works perfectly fine for me. According to the System Report (seen in the image below), I'm getting 45w which is better than 50% of the Apple charger. This sounds low, but if you leave this under your sofa or in your office, it does fine at keeping the computer charged--even while in use. I have not experienced a power drop at all--even while rendering 2K video in Final Cut Pro or using multiple Adobe CC apps. Highly recommend!

Observations:
Okay, so to start off, this is a very nicely built piece of hardware. It impressed me as soon as it came out of the box, with just enough weight to hold it steady so the cords don't outweigh it. I placed rubber feet on one side so it didn't slip around, though.

Pros:
seems to be heavy duty casing
fast charging through the USB-A ports (but not quick-charge compatible)
stays cool even while charging two phones, tablet, and Bluetooth headset

Cons:
USB-C port DOES NOT WORK. I have tried to use this port on several USB-C devices and cables. None of them charge properly. The charging sequence pings on the device every 10 seconds for a split second. Also makes the device become warm in a short period of time! I did not keep plugged into the C port for more than a minute, fearing that my device would end up being fried.

Overall:
It's okay, but for the price and a USB-C port that DOES NOT WORK, I would buy the 5-port USB-A model before ever looking at this one again. I would have mailed it back for a replacement/refund immediately, but my German Shepard decided to use the empty box as a chew toy for a while. But at least the 4 other ports work for now.

I have just been contacted by Dorthy from Anker. Just receiving a line of communication was enough surprise me, but she has offered to send another unit to try. This was enough to floor me. Greatest Friday I've had for a long time! I will post more on the product once I have it in hand and have a chance to test it out. Picking up a USB line tester in order for hard numbers.

5-stars to Dorthy from Anker for contacting me. This is amazing in itself! I'm thinking the customer support from Anker is better than most big-name manufacturers. If this is the case, and they truly do like to take care of their customers (as it seems that they do), I believe their products will be the first I look at for purchase from here on out!

Dorthy followed through shortly after the phone call. I had in my possession a brand new 5 port USB-A charger with one port compatible with Quick Charge 2.0. I wanted to wait until I could do a good in-depth check on the hardware, so I took my time before editing this post.

Quick Charge 2.0 does an excellent job at charging an compatible device. It's speed is somewhat amazing and far better than regular stock wall warts that came with the devices.
Being a good weight vs. size, this item sits VERY well on my nightstand. It is actually very aesthetically pleasing once the cables are routed properly.
Just as the Type-C charger, this one stays very cool during operation. I left my tablet on top of it (accidentally) for the night only to find the product just barely warmer than my hand. The, what seems to be aluminum, body helps dissipate the heat into the surrounding environment.

Over all, I am very pleased with not only the replacement product, Dorthy for calling to hear my complaint, but also in Anker in general. This company really does stand behind their products. Because of that, I will be looking to buy more of their products in the future!

Explanation of the 4-stars:
1 star goes to the product, since the USB-C was the main selling point of the product to me. Since it never worked correctly, it wasn't worth the premium that I had paid.
4 stars go to Anker and Dorthy personally for such great customer service. I have never had a company initiate a call before. This is outstanding customer service. It also means that they take these reviews VERY seriously, so be honest folks!

Charges my 2016 MacBook Pro 13" with touchbar

If you are wondering if this can work as a charger for your 2016 13" MacBook pro, the answer is yes.

I have the fully spec'd out 13" macbook pro... 3.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 thunderbolt ports, 16gb/ram, 512gb SSD, etc. I plugged this charger in to the Anker PowerLine+ C to C 2.0 cable (6ft) and plugged that in to any of the 4 thunderbolt ports, and it charges my macbook just fine.

Even with a bunch of apps open and the brightness cranked up to 100%, it still kept my macbook fully charged.

Plus, Anker is fantastic -- I have so many of their products (batteries, cables, screen protectors, etc) and any time I've had a problem (which has been few given how many things I've owned of theirs over the years), they're very responsive and easy to work with on a warranty claim.

USB-C port charges at too high of a current with 12" MacBook

I travel for a living, and wanted to have one charger that I could plug into the hotel room and have charging cables for all of my devices ready to go. In some parts of the world, even nice hotels might have just one or two power outlets. And those are often already in use by a lamp, etc so a charger like this can be very useful.

The charger overall does what it claims-it can charge a 2016 MacBook 12", an iPad Air 2, an iPhone 6s+, my Nitecore flashlight, and my Panasonic shaver all at the same time. The problem is twofold-when doing this the case gets VERY hot, and the BIG problem is with the USB-C power delivery port-instead of providing 29W like the Apple charger, it charges at 45W, which I presume is using 15V @ 3A. Please se the attached photos.This exceeds the allowable charging wattage and current of both the MacBook (29W) and the nameplate on the Anker charger itself, which is supposed to provide a maximum of 30W via USB-C. This would be 15V@2A or 30V@1A-so it is charging my MacBook at a full ampere higher than it should, and I do not know if this will damage the MacBook over time. The Apple 29W adapter charges at 14.5v@2A (from its nameplate). This might explain the excessively high case temperature. I'm not sure how these devices negotiate charging voltage and current, but given that I am using the Apple computer with the Apple 2M USB -C charging cable, the problem must lie with the Anker charger. I love their products but I am not willing to risk damaging my MacBook. I am also concerned about this device failing on the other side of the world and leaving me without a charger.

Another minor complaint is the size and weight of this device. The photos show another (excellent) 5-port 40W Anker USB charger that I currently carry with me on top of this device. I was surprised at the size and weight of this device.
