Great performance, but has one small firmware issue.

For the testing in this review, I connected 2 PCs to a gigabit switch. PC1 used an Intel I219-V Ethernet adapter, while PC2 used the Anker3-Port USB hub + Ethernet adapter.The Ethernet adapter used within the USB hub has a model number of: RTL8153I have used This USB hub + gigabit Ethernet adapter for a few months now, and so far, the speeds have been great, and the reliability is decent., It can pretty much sustain around 940Mbps download throughput, thus after overhead, it is pretty much the full gigabit throughput.Upload throughput had more variation, though it was still able to on average, remain close to 900Mbps.In attempting to fully saturate the upload and download, The Ethernet controller in the USB hub, resets its self, thus it is not fully capable of handling a load which will fully saturate the upload and download simultaneously, though for the few milliseconds in which it was sending and receiving data, it was able to hit 1.4Gbit/s overall throughput, though the adapter kept crashing.My final test, was to see how the adapter would handle me performing a linear read on a USB 3 flash drive with a top speed of 200MB/s, while simultaneously saturating the download throughput on the Ethernet controller. If you view the attached screenshot, we can see that the Ethernet adapter takes priority with this device. The moment I start the download benchmark, the read speed on the flash drive which is connected to the USB hub on the device, immediately drops from 200MB/s, to 158MB/s. This is an issue to be expected, as when you connect multiple devices to a hub (in the case of this USB hub, 3 USB ports, 1 Ethernet adapter, and about 1MB of internal ROM which contains drivers for older versions of windows. Overall, between all of the devices on the that the USB hub has, you are working with around 300MB/s worth of overall throughput, and the Ethernet adapter will get top priority on that available throughput.Overall, I give it 4 stars out of 5. My reasoning for removing one star, is due to what is likely a firmware issue with the device where attempting to fully saturate the Ethernet controller's upload and download at the same time, will cause the adapter to essentially reboot. The hub remains connected, but the Ethernet controller, disconnects from the PC, and then reconnects. Under normal use I have not encountered this issue, as it is uncommon to saturate a network adapter in this way. With this being the case, it is still an issue as no other gigabit Ethernet adapter that I have tested encountered an issue such as this.This device is good for a system which may only have 1 or 2 USB ports, where you need additional ports for multiple slower devices (e.g., an external hard drive, Ethernet, + a keyboard and mouse), but if you were to do something like connect multiple high bandwidth devices to it at once, e.g., an external hard drive + capture card, then it will likely not handle such a workload.If this were a USB 3.1 gen 2 USB hub, then we may be able to handle such a workload, but with the limited throughput of USB 3.0, we cannot use the hub with multiple high bandwidth devices.

This Anker adapter allows MS Window Surface Pro, which has no ethernet port, to connect my ethernet network switch, and same time the additional usb port allows me using my usb wireless mouse and two more usb port for something else.
