Less suck than the usual aftermarket, and a good deal to boot!

Holy crap, an aftermarket ThinkPad battery that isn't, uh... crap!

So it's not as good as the OEM battery. Let's just get that out of the way right now. And if you're after a UL listing, you won't get it. Hey, you get what you pay for and this thing is cheap. Keep an eye on it to watch for swelling, etc. Failures can happen with any battery, and I'd definitely be a little paranoid about anything that's not OEM...

With that out of the way, I'm pleased to report that this is one of the few aftermarket batteries that I've tried for my X201 which *doesn't* seem to totally suck. I've used it since February 2014 and it's held up just great.

OK, ignore the cell manufacturer. That's often a complete lie on aftermarket batteries. But the cycle count, relative lack of capacity loss, and manufacture date indicate:

1) They're making these things new, rather than just selling failed leftovers.

2) The batteries seem to hold up well, assuming they don't slam headfirst into the left-hand side of the bathtub curve.

3) If you do get one that makes it past infancy, it'll probably do a decent job for some time. (my N=1 though, naturally, so don't read *too* much into this...)

So is it worth it for the $36 or so that Amazon's selling this for now? Hell yeah!

Great replacement - but some caveats.

Laptop batteries a strange thing. For example, replacing them with factory ones can sometimes cost more than the resale of the laptop. I picked up an X200s for $50 at auction and used some parts around the house to bring it back to life, however the battery attached to it was vintage 2009 and was not charging anymore. Having had success with Anker's MacBook Pro battery replacement for my wife's C2D MBP, I went ahead and ordered the Anker brand for this one.

On the positive side, this battery works great. Charges as expected, no problems at all with Lenovo Power Manager, and battery has lasted as expected with moderate work - about 4.5 hours. While the SL9600 processor sips energy compared to the i5 in the X201, the low-nit screen means you're spending most of your time at 66% brightness. But, it easily lasts a field trip to Starbucks and a few hours being idle on a desktop.

There are a few negatives. One that is kind of out of the seller's control is the age of the battery. While the MBP Anker battery was only two months old, this one was over 6 months old as reported by LPM. The MBP battery came in at 105% of rated capacity (great!) while this one already was at 97% with 0 cycles. The locking mechanism is not secure and I once or twice bumped the battery out of the slot if I wasn't careful. It also slides in and out with more resistance than the factory battery would.

An inconsequential minus is that the pattern of the feet on the battery don't quite match up with the factory pattern. I thought this was preventing me from being able to dock the laptop into the Ultrabase, however it turns out that it was just a stuck elevator pin in the base itself that was easily repaired with a little pressure.

All in all, while I don't expect non-OEM laptop batteries to have the same fit and finish as the OEM ones, the issue with the locking mechanism not always seating 100% requires me to put a little more effort into keeping an eye on the insert/release battery changes.

Very pleasant and uneventful experience.
the pros:
- battery works well
- good craftsmanship
- good value
- my laptop accepts it as an OEM

cons:
- none so far

I purchased this battery after unpleasant transaction with another seller (with a cheaper battery , that had poor workmanship quality , and the contact terminals were not properly aligned it would not charge at all and gave an error every time connected. )

I spent some time researching the problem and saw the good reviews/feedback on Amazon. The Anker battery came in perfect condition . there are no bumps or deformations on the battery. the plastic looks like higher quality than the other one and the terminals are perfectly aligned. It attaches effortlessly and once in the bay is secured well and does not move at all, The color and texture matches the laptop's.

it slid effortlessly in the bay and my laptop recognized it and started charging. Presently with moderate settings it is estimated to go on this 6 cell battery for 4-5 hrs. Which is modest for a lenovo laptop, but is more than enough power that I will need. I guess i can extend this time by reducing the screen brightness and the cpu speed.

Also I am very happy I do not get the annoying messages that it is not a lenovo battery that are so pesky on my other laptops (I guess when their time come I convert them to Anker batteries too)

The battery is not the cheapest on the market . it is 10 dollars more than the cheapest i found. However it works. and works well.
(the cheapest did not work at all and is now a paperweight and a reminder that I need an improvement in my consumer decisions)

I will strongly recommend the Anker battery to anyone (exept for my enemies: all you foes out there, please message me for the details where you can get the cheaper one)
