I suppose that you can call me a die hard Anker fan. I discovered Anker some years ago while looking for a charging cable to replace the never ending slew of wires that had failed me. Although I have a scientific background it hadn’t occurred to me that anyone would be producing cables that exceeded the durability of the OEM Apple product. I browsed around in the main Apple store in town here and those flimsy, short wires were priced in the clouds. I went through numerous original Apple wires and countless lesser quality ones purchased in pharmacies. One day I was looking around on Amazon and I saw an Anker cable with a woven nylon casing and I was immediately impressed. I bought one and I was hooked. I no longer felt the need to buy only Apple accessories for my iPhone. From then on until very recently, I only purchased Anker products for my charging needs. Recently, there have been some other reliable cables and chargers introduced to the market but this review is not about them, it’s about the king of charging accessories, Anker, and the newly crowned king of Anker products, the 24K gold plated (connectors) charging cable.
Now, one might ask, why would I spend $100 on a cable that Is sold by the same company without the gold plating for $35? I am not filthy rich. The cable ought to have the plating on the parts of the connectors that actually connect with the phone and charger in which case it might create a better connection, but it is not the case. Who am I trying to impress? The answer is, I can’t answer that question. Maybe it’s because I’m a retired jeweler. Maybe I wanted to treat myself to something that most people won’t have. It is beautiful though
