Out of the box the first impressions of the cable are its very sturdy in comparison with the official apple cable. The cable is slightly thicker but has a lot more rigidity, presumable due to the kevlar fiber that Anker claim to put in the cable. It is also worth noting that it is 90cm instead of the 100cm that the official apple cables that come with the iPad/iPhone come with.

Other points: Being certified MFI it is guaranteed to work with all of your devices so you do not get incompatibility messages that you can get with unbranded cables. It comes with a small Anker branded velcro tie to keep the cable tidy which is especially usefull for me when i am using it on the go.

Its worth pointing out that both ends are slightly bigger at both connections than the standard apple cable but i am yet to see a 3rd party cable that isn't other than cheap chines clones which break after a month due to poor quality. Having the bigger ends is the price you pay for having something a bit more sturdy that isn't so likely to tear and break at each end so it is down to personal preference. It is probably worth noting that if you have a case with a small cutout for the cable it may not fit so its worth checking your compatibility. Anker do state that it is not compatible with the Lifeproof iPhone 6 / 6 Plus cases. I have included some pictures to show you the difference

I have tested this cable with the following devices on both sync and charge on the following devices and had the same results as a standard supplied apple cable. Worked exactly as you would expect it to:

iPhone 5c
iPhone 5s
iPhone 6
iPhone 6 plus
iPad 4th Generation
iPad Air 2

All in all i wouldn't hesitate to recommend this over the apple cable in terms of price and durability however if you really want the thinner cable and connections then stick with the apple cable.

It's advertised as durable but I've only moderately used it for a few weeks now and the connection between the cable and the lightning plug end is already spotty. This cable lasted even shorter than the stock iPhone cable...

**UPDATE**
Anker got in touch with me quite quickly after my negative experience and sent me a replacement. I am updating my review to 3 stars for now until I can verify that this cable is in fact durable but so far the 3 stars is purely just for Anker's awesome customer support. I even got a call from their local office checking in on how the replacement cables were. Call it mafia like but they definitely stand by their products.

I thought this Anker Lightning cable would be fantastic, and for about a week it was. I was bragging to friends that it seemed more durable than the original Apple cable. Then one day I plugged it into my iPad and the Lightning connector broke right off at the base. I returned it to Amazon and they kept $3 out of the purchase price when issuing my refund. Boo to Anker for a faulty product and boo to Amazon for charging a return fee for an item that broke within one week of use. Guess I'll keep looking for a quality replacement cable.

I bought this cable in November. It worked great while I used it, but about month in it started splitting open after moderate use, and I’m not hard on my cables (Have about 4 different cables). See Photo. Returned it to amazon. I also have one of the Anker battery packs, and that seems to be made well.

UPDATE: March 2016.
Upgraded from 2 to 4 stars.
Anker saw my review and emailed me to let me know that they will send me a replacement at no charge, and I did not need to send back the old one (though I already returned it to amazon at that point). So far the replacement cable works great, but since it's one of 5 cables that I use, I will have to see if it holds up. Excellent customer service though, and I'm still a big anker product fan!

I felt confident on the purchase based on Wirecutter's recommendations but now that I've been trying to hail Anker I've gotten ZERO response from them - not even a no/yes anything. I've tried two different email addresses (marketing@anker.com) and (support@anker.com) but after 20+ days of incognito I tried their very active Twitter account only to be left dumbfounded. I've gotten better response times from a 3rd party seller with bad ratings.

Absolutely awful. I've had this for barely 2 months and it stopped charging devices. No tears within the cord but charging just connects and disconnects non stop. First anker product I am disappointed with.

Avoid the 2-pack. The cords were not Anker PowerLine cables. I have ordered numerous Anker cords & USB chargers as I believe their quality to be excellent. When I had some Apple iPhone cables go bad, I went to pick up some Anker ones to replace them. On the page you have the option to buy one for $9.99 or two for $15.99. Being frugal, I opted for the 2-pack. What I got were two lightning cables, but they were not Anker PowerLine cables. They weren't even Anker cables. They were generic lightning cables. I returned them.

My experience may not be the norm. The cable worked the first afternoon/evening I had it. I used it with the Anker Quick Charge Combo Bundle to recharge my iPhone 5 and iPod Touch during my son's football practice. The next night I used it with the same iPod Touch for an overnight charge. The iPod wouldn't turn on. I feared the battery from the Anker combo bundle had fried the iPod. But after trying a genuine Apple lighting cable and power cube, the iPod Touch started charging. I tried the Anker cable with all my Apple products and 3 additional coworker's iPhones. None of they recognized the Anker cable. I've since returned it to Amazon, but would be curious to find out what the problem was.
