I previously bought two no name USB cables off an auction site for $2.25 total. Using my USB power tester I saw that they charged my tablet at 1800 milliamps so they weren't the thin ones that charge at 300 milliamps.. Each one lasted 6 months before they would no longer charge my tablet.

Not wanting to buy a new USB cable every 6 months I came across this one. It was more than three times what I paid for the pair of no name USB cables but with the 10000+ bend lifespan and kevlar fiber I thought it would last for years, but I was wrong.

I purchased it 36 days ago and today I plugged it into my Galaxy tablet and as I use my tablet I keep losing the connection. Even just typing on the touchscreen causes the connection to come and go. I don't know if it is broken wires or the USB connector itself but moving the cable causes a loss of connection. I also tried it in my Galaxy phone and it does he same thing so I know it is the cable. Even worse, I only use this cable occasionally when the tablet needs charging and I am using it in bed. Most of the time I use it I'm up sitting in my recliner where I use the USB cable that came with the tablet if it needs charging.

Of course I am just out of the 30 day return period to send it back to Amazon so I'll have to deal with Anker and probably have to pay shipping .

It's pretty sad that a pair of no name USB cables that cost $2.25 for the pair each lasted 6 months and this one that costed 3 times more than the pair or 6 times more than each no name USB cable lasted only 36 days. It appears the kevlar fiber is just a gimmick because no one has a problem with the insulation on a regular USB cable breaking. It's the wires that break which I suspect is what happened and kevlar fibers aren't going to help that.Read more ›

The cable is well built. What isn't well built is the connector that goes into your device. About a month after using this cable, the pins remain retracted inside the cable. This causes the cable to not stay in the device when it's moved. The cable simply falls out.

One of the more sturdy USB cables I've purchased. Ended up giving it to my 10 yr old niece for her Samsung TAB 3 and the OEM cable fell apart (Normal thing with samsung cables it seems).I will buy myself another but if this lasts her more than 6 Months, I will upgrade the rating to 5 stars

Update: Downgrade from 5 stars to 2 Starts
After using this product for 4 weeks, I am not pleased with this cable. The charge rate has dropped so dramatically that i though my Samsung S4 Battery was giving problems because the only way it would charge is when the phone was off. I am using this cable with the OEM samsung 2 Amp wall charger and when i checked the charging current while using the cable it registered 300mA. my original damaged samsung cable still manages to put out 1200mA and an ever older 3yr Nokia Usb Cable puts out 1200mA. Even getting better charge rates from plugging into my laptop (460mA).

Anker. I will like my money back.

Anker contancted me about my review and based on the problem described they said i may have received a defective cable. I was offered a replacement and an additional free unit. I received them today and i will see how it performs. I'm returning the rating to 4 stars simply because of their excellent customer service and because they stand by their product.

Same problem as everyone else here, micro-usb side is horribly sub-par and instantly becomes loose. After a week of use it nearly falls out of my phone or tablet. I thought, maybe my old phone has a loose female side, but the OLD samsung cable I have at work and the no-name cable in my car snap in place tightly and holds a connection. Pathetic....Had so much hope for these cables. I ordered three of them. Returning.

Edit #1: Anker offered immediate replacement of all three cables I ordered. We'll see if the replacements act the same. I suspect they will, but I hold out hope because I like all the other aspects of these cables.

Before I begin, I will mention that I purchased this unit for myself through Amazon. I have no affiliations with Anker nor any conflicts of interest.

After using this product consistently for the past few weeks, I must say that I am quite impressed with Anker. The cable is sleek, durable, exhibits a very low tolerance for the fit of the plug, and does not impede charging. For testing purposes, I used these cables along with an Anker Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Turbo USB Wall Charger for Samsung Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge / Edge+, Note 5, Note 4 / Edge, Nexus 6, HTC M9, Xperia Z3 / Z2, Moto X and More (Black). My phone is a Motorola Moto X (2014), so it is capable of taking advantage of the QC 2.0 feature of the charger. Listed in the following are observations I have obtained from the consistent use of the cable:

-Use w/ QC 2.0: The charging speed is extremely quick, going from 5 % battery to 60 % in about 20 (+/- 5) minutes and 5 % to 100 % in about 80 (+/- 10) minutes. The charging occurred without excessive heat generated by either the charger or the phone.

-Use w/o QC 2.0: The performance of the charger without QC 2.0 was tested using an Asus Nexus 7 (2013). The charging was still very quick, going from 5 % battery to 60 % in about 35 (+/- 5) minutes and 5 % to 100 % in about 140 (+/-) 10 minutes.

-A nice feature about the cable is that Velcro loops are provided with the cable. They aid immensely in managing a cable of this length and are far more durable than the Velcro loops provided with other cables that I have used.

-The construction of the cable was also quite impressive. The protective coatings are thick and the reinforcements placed between the body of the cable and the ends of the cable are top notch.Read more ›
