Extremely pro-active customer service from Anker (I was genuinely surprised), they just asked for the S/N and shipped me a brand new one. Apparently I had a cable from a bad batch. 5 stars for the customer service, will replace my cable and keep using it on a daily basis, will update the review if anything else comes up.
The collar is so wide that it prevents it from plugging into my Sony MDR-100 headphones which was the reason I bought it. So that sucks. If the stereo jack you're wishing to plug this into is in any way recessed into the body of the device you should avoid this cable.
I tried plugging it into my Lenovo T450s, Nextbit Robin, a Nexus 4, and my desktop PC which all have flush mount stereo jacks; the connector either wouldn't stay plugged in or was so loosely engaged that it would pop out if you farted in it's direction.
It's as if it was so precisely manufactured with zero tolerances that if your stereo jack is anything but perfect it won't work.
I've been using it on a daily basis with my iPod Touch, as well as my iPad. It's been subject to extreme conditions, as I've removed it from one device, and put it in the other several times a week. There have been no issues whatsoever, and absolutely no signs that any portion of it may be coming apart.
The sound quality from both my iPod Touch and iPad is superb, and has never wavered. It fits into the 3.5mm aux ports perfectly, and exactly the same as the day I purchased it.
Anker customer support is superb. I did have an issue with another item that I purchased from them, and they replaced it, no questions asked. As for this cable, the bottom line is that it works perfectly, and continues to do so despite my subjecting it to almost daily abuse. 5 stars.
I won't sign off on Anker for a $8 cord, but be careful there are several reviews from people having the same issue with this cord specifically. I went ahead and purchased a different brand aux cord to replace this one.
Top international reviews
I chose to try this cable based on the warranty the company offers and the reviews and research I read.
The cable is very good quality and the sound is crisp and clear. The construction seems strong and I like the rubber that the cord is made out of because it isn't that stiff hard rubber that you usually see on cables but its more of a soft flexible rubber. I believe that because of the material it is more durable and can bend without damaging the wires inside. I use it in my car where it is the perfect length not too short and not too long, but also have used it to connect to a portable speaker and the big speaker at work.
I love the little Velcro strap attached to it because I can wrap up the wire to keep it from getting tangled in my purse.
I have lent this cord to friends when their regular cable stops working properly and they all have been impressed with its quality, and I have been impressed with its durability.
Definable would recommend to anyone who goes through a lot of AUX cables, this one is worth the money and has a warranty if it does ever break.
Update: I ordered this product in Oct 2017 and I am still using it with no issues whatsoever. I love the rubber it is made out of it is very durable, and I am quite hard on this cord as is stays in my car getting flung around. April 2020 and still working as it did the same day I opened it!
