Update five 13 April: Nothing significant to report, still working well.
Update four 17 Feb: I strapped the speakers to the side of a small boat and went on a salt water journey to a beach about 12 nm away. Once I got there, I accidentally dropped the speakers into the water and sand. They still work fine, I rinsed them off right away and don't see any corrosion. Word of warning though, sand is the perfect size to pass through the speaker grate or get stuck in it, took me a long time to get the grains out. Don't drop it in sand or you'll be cleaning for a while. I was able to hear my music with a small outboard engine running at 2/3 throttle in the background.
Update three, January 29, 2016: I came across one issue with the speakers. I notice they crackle when listening to speaking podcasts at full or almost full volume. Reproduced with "Stuff You Should Know" and other talk show podcasts. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the speakers for durability, but will keep them at four stars given this issue. Not a huge drawback, but it's definitely a thing that may bother some more than others. Fours stars still means "I like it".
Another update: These continue to impress, They're loud and clear over several genres of music and talk programs. I have yet to charge them again since purchase (today's Jan. 18, 2016). Only use them for about 15 minutes/day.
Update: I threw the speaker in a sink full of water for about 30 minutes, it does float, always with the port cover facing up. I had music playing while it was in the water and it was working fine when I pulled it back out. Will update if anything goes awry.Read more ›
Like a big boy, I paid for this with my own money and didn't pimp myself out in order to provide an "honest and unbiased" review.
As for sound, it's got nice output for its size. It's not home theatre quality, obviously but for personal music in the outdoors, or in my case, the shower; it works perfectly. It's got a very nice build and heft. Definitely recommended it!
Starting with design, I really like how Anker went about designing the SoundCore Sport. It's traditional in shape to many other portable bluetooth speakers, but it somehow seems different from the rest. It's got a cute, compact, rounded square shape that allows it to be stood up on any of its sides. It's got matte plastic all around which feels solid and rugged. The top and bottom (or front and back depending on how you look at it) have grills to accommodate the internal speaker. You've got holes on the top for a lanyard(which is included) and you will also find the four buttons used to operate the SoundCore Sport. On the side is a rubber covered port for an AUX in and the USB port for charging the unit. Usually I'm not a big fan of manufacturers stamping their logo all over products, but in this case, I really like how it worked out. I don't know if it's just me but I really like how the sleek Anker logo looks stamped on the front of the housing. Had the logo not been as aesthetically pleasing, I probably wouldn't enjoy it being so boldly on the front. Kudos to whoever designed the Anker logo, it looks nice.
Setting up the speaker is super simple. As with most bluetooth speakers, you just turn the speaker on, go to your device's bluetooth menu and pair.
Compared to other bluetooth speakers, the SoundCore Sport is simple in operation and doesn't really have any fancy features. It's got a button for on/off, bluetooth pairing/call/play/pause/skip, and two buttons for volume up and down. The bluetooth/call button is the main button that allows you to do things like play/pause, answer/end call, skip forward, and re-enter pairing mode.Read more ›

Really cool little music box. Speakers play out of both sides. Battery life is good. It's not the loudest thing in the world, but it's small and sounds great!Published 2 days ago by John forbes
