Small, lightweight, affordable
I could hear it making a high pitched noise sometimes while charging (this is outside the range of hearing for most folks - for whatever reason I can hear certain frequencies others can not) - the noise was not very loud or annoying, it sits right next to my bed next to my ear and did not bother me.
The field strength of the device required me to place my phone *exactly* in the right spot
It has a green light that turns blue and flashes when charging. This was a little annoying next to my bed (but I had to be able to see it to ensure it was charging).
Had some issues charging after about a week, might be due to a bad USB cable (that came with another product), or a lose port on my USB charger fiddling with the cable where it plugged into the charger fixed it, so this might not have been an issue with the charging pad.
Due to the alignment issues I had, I went searching for a product with a better charging range (i.e. bigger coil?) and I ended up buying the CHOE Stadium Qi Wireless Charger which claims to have three charging coils and works much better. It was a bit more expensive, but thus far I am finding it very worthwhile. The CHOE also has a softer somewhat rubberized surface vs. the hard plastic of this Anker product.
For these reasons I am only giving this three stars (even though in general I like Anker products) and I am recommending you buy the CHOE product over this.
P.S. In the attached photo, the Anker product is on the left, the CHOE product is on the right and my Nexus 6 with the Supcase is on top.
After returning my first Qi charger, Anker customer support contacted me and sent a replacement. Their customer service is top notch and very friendly. The new charger arrived and it is working just fine now. The replacement unit had the same issues as my initial review pointed out though. The top of the charger was coming loose from the base of the charger and the bottom feet are loose as well. I ended up using a small bit of super glue to fix the problem. Quality control just isn't catching these issues when building this charger apparently. Many thanks for the great customer support though!
I wanted to like this Qi charger, but the build quality is very poor. I own a Nokia Qi charger, so I've had the pleasure of using a well made Qi charger for awhile now.
When I first opened the Anker Qi charger, the device actually fell apart into two pieces when I pulled it out of the box! The charger is made of glossy plastic and is a fingerprint magnet. There are three rubber "feet" on the bottom of the charger to hold it in place on a surface, and two of the feet came loose when I was simply handling the device for the first time.
This charger might be worth $10, but definitely not $25.99. Amazon was great and refunded my purchase. I've seen so many great reviews for Anker products and I truly hope they will improve upon the design of their Qi charger.
I purchased two of these charging pads. I like the larger diameter compared to some PowerBot pads I have, which makes it a bit easier to get the alignment close enough. However, one of my pads became flaky after a few weeks and couldn't reliably charge my phone. To Anker's credit, their customer support was very easy to deal with and replaced the defective pad immediately. I really appreciated the way they handled my support request.
