One note: I was slightly hesitant on this one because it only supports normal charging, and not the Apple "quick" charge. I already own the Anker charging pad that supports "quick charge" and lays flat, and am pretty familiar with the charge time. I really wanted a stand, though, as explained above, so I purchased this with one of Anker's less expensive charging plugs that supported normal charging. After a couple weeks of using both this stand and the "quick charge" pad (now on the bedside cabinet), I have to say there really isn't much difference time-wise. For my desktop use (set the phone on the stand during the work day), the few minute difference in charging speed over hours makes no difference. The "quick charge" pad is faster, but only by maybe 20 percent (rough guess based on my observations)?
For my use case, this stand is perfect for keeping the phone topped while I'm at work. It also charges the phone perfectly in a horizontal position on the stand as well as vertical. Don't be put off by the lack of Apple "quick-charge" support; in practice, this charges quite well compared to "quick charge".
Right now I have the phone in an Apple leather case and it charges just as well as before the case was on it.
Not surprisingly it sold out quickly, but once it comes back into stock I’ll be ordering another 1-2 and returning the generic ones.
My new iPhone 8 Plus was taking up too much desk space and with the charging cord attached it was even worse. This charger gives you a nice place to rest your phone where you can see the screen easily and take up less space. I was assuming the wireless stand would only give a "trickle charge" to the phone while resting there. Not so.
Plugged it in for the first time today and here are my unscientific results: Battery charge when set in the stand - 59%. 1 hour later 84%. 1½ hours later 95%. 2 hours later 98%. 2:05 later 100%. That is much faster than I thought it would be. My iPhone has a slim TPU case that is about 2mm thick and the charger didn't seem to care.
Playing music on Pandora was kind of neat because the battery didn't lose its 100% charge for over an hour and the speakers sounded fine. Not sure why, since the bottom lip of the charger seems to cover them but perhaps the curved case gives enough air-space. If you need the full impact of your microscopic phone speakers, you can simply lay the phone sideways and point those massive subwoofers towards your listening area. The phone charges whether resting vertically or horizontally.
The phone never heated up while charging but the back got a little warm (like, barely) while charging and playing Pandora simultaneously.
Very nicely designed charger and it fits my needs perfectly. If I ever need an emergency "fast charge", that's what cords are for.
Update: The Ankar Customer service reach-out to me and offer replacement, I have been using it for week and half product look same as first one but function perfectly, not getting hot, I guess I have bed unit first time, and I am very happy with the charger. Number One for the customer service and love the Anker Chargers and cable, work better the all the competitors

It has now been relocated to my desk and I've gone back to just physically plugging the phone in when it's next to the bed and the charger relocated to the desk. Unfortunately, even with a 'naked' iPhone (XS Max), with no case, and a good 2.1A power supply as recommended, it pretty much always flashes indicating not charging for one reason or another. It's a nice idea but doesn't really work. Bit of a waste of money.
*Note that this will only charge your phone at 5W and not 7.5W, but they do say it's a faster charge than other 5W chargers available..
I contacted Anker prior to buying the product asking about the plug required and they replied quickly.
Do you want it? Possibly not
Is it as good as just charging with a cable? Undoubtedly not.
It's still cool though!
The first time we tried this I connected it up to the regular cheap charger with a cheap cable. The light came on and the phone indicated it was charging. The next morning it had done nothing and the phone ran out of charge an hour later.
The next time we used the supplied cable and a good quality (Anker in fact) charger and it charged at a decent rate, probably not as fast as a cable, but in the ballpark. This was while the phone was in a fairly thick plastic case (note a metal or foil covered case will kill this completely).
So not as good as the cable that comes free with your phone, but much cooler :)
I was using the centre most port on the Anker charging block (in two separate "wired" tests, I found the charging port furthest from the centre to charge "wired" 12% slower, so I used the faster port to compare with the Samsung charger). All tests were timed, and started when the phone was at 25% charged. The screen was off, and the phone was rebooted prior to charging, to ensure equal running processes.
Scenario 1: Anker wireless base with included cable, and stock Samsung Adaptive charger = charged at 984 mA average.
Scenario 2: Anker wireless base with included cable, and Anker's 31.5W Dual USB Wall Charger PowerPort 2 with Quick Charge 3.0 (using the slightly faster centre port) = charged at 982 mA average.
The Anker charger yielded no advantage over the stock Samsung Adaptive charger, but confirmed the charging speed of the wireless pad.
By comparison, using Anker's PowerLine+ USB C to USB 3.0 cable (6ft), High Durability cable with the aforementioned chargers, the resulting "wired" charge rates are as follows:
With Anker charger: 1918 mA average
With Samsung charger: 2164 mA average
The Anker wireless charging pad is a bit less than half as fast as either "wired" solution. Imho that's not a terrible thing. Fast charging is proven to reduce the lifespan of rechargeable batteries. Plus, there's the sheer convenience - and no more broken cables to replace!
Footnote: the wireless base may yield faster charge rates by using a better cable than the one Anker provides. I'm skeptical about that, as I believe it is a limitation of the micro USB 2.0 port on the wireless base. Meh, next time... LOL!
It works well - your handset is supported at an upright angle so that you can see the screen. Although it takes a second or so for the stand to recognise your phone, once placed in it charges quickly - certainly about the same speed as if it was plugged in using a cable. The stand is sturdy enough not to topple over easily whilst remaining light in weight.
My only criticism would be the rather short micro-USB cable included, but that's easily swapped out for a longer cable.

As soon as the iPhone is placed on the charger, the charger's blue LED lamp lights and there's the usual taptic feedback from the phone itself. (The charge lamp remains lit even if the phone is fully charged.)
The charger isn't fast-charge enabled but you probably already know that. It is, through, a very convenient way to continue to watch some video or listen to audio through the phone's internal speaker (in which case, place the phone upside down to stop the lower speaker being blocked) in the kitchen or living room, while topping up the battery. We also use it to drive Bluetooth headphones and speakers and haven't found any problems when the phone is on this charging stand. The charger offers good value for money.
The quality and design are what you'd expect from Anker – somewhat understated, with basic but good materials. For this price, it's excellent.
I always thought that wireless charging would be slow, I'm always amazed how quick this thing will charge an iPhone X. I put my phone on one of these recently whilst in the shower. within about 20 minutes we had an increase of 10%. Amazing!
Doesn't get too warm either - it's not the "quick" charge of 10w - but it really is quick enough.
This is a great angle on the stand too for bedside. just tap the screen and you can easily see how few hours until the alarm is due to go off again...
One slight downside - the blue LED on the front is a little bright. 20 seconds and some duck/duct tape and it's sorted.
First things first, buy a new lead! - the one supplied is small - however most of us have spares as the USB cable is pretty much universal these days.
I have a powered USB hub on my desk as I also have a USB Clock, and two UBS fans - so this wireless charger simply plugged into a spare port.
It works, and works well - my phone can charge vertically or horizontally, and in either position is pretty stable.
There is a Blue LED that is lit when it detects a charging coil on a phone - however, it only turns off when you remove the phone. It would be more productive to have the light automatically turn off when the phone is fully charged - especially since my Galaxy S10+ no longer has a charging LED on the phone instead.
Yes, I could save myself some money and just charge using a lead instead, but the wireless charger offers my phone a home off my desk making is less suspectable to knocks.
I'm pleased I brought it.
The unit developed a fault almost straight after leaving this review.
I will give Anker support 10/10 for their customer support. I could have returned the unit to Amazon, but instead went through Anker who, after understandable checking a few facts, promptly replaced the item.
I have several Anker products at home, and see no reason to stop using them.
My first charger is a Spigen essentials slim charge which works well if you position the phone exactly on the charger in a certain way and it doesn't get knocked. If it moves 3-4mm it stops charging which is super annoying.
This Anker charger however is a different story. I place my phone on without any thought for alignment and as long as its 'roughly' in the right place it will charge!
It also charges pretty quick - a lot quicker than all of my others.
Build quality is good and it looks great - overall, highly recommended!
- Looks aesthetically cool and minimalistic.
- It does grease (e.g. after moisturizing etc.) easily as the dock is matte so it will show oil shine.
- Tiny 0.5cm blue light comes on only when charging. It isn't bright at all, not annoying enough for me to paint over it however I still don't like it facing me.
- Around a 5 degree tilt, would prefer a dock where you can change the level of tilt for my desk. Better angles for video chatting :)
- Charges my iPhone Xr and X at 5V (Not fast charge) However with a 5V(2.1A) plug it charges fairly fast, around 30% or so in about 30/40min.
Note: If you use the plug that came with the phone, it will charge slowly (Fine if you only charge whilst sleeping at night). This is because the plug supplied is a 5V(1A). Ipad plugs are fine 5V(2.1A). There are lots of Anker fast charge USB wall charger at 5V(2.1A) for around £10.

I bought this as a replacement for a Belkin BoostUp pad that seemed to stop charging my iPhone X. Initially this Anker stand didn't work either, so I thought it was the charger itself that died. So, I bought a decent one of those too. Still nothing worked... I read some article online that said "try these five things if your phone isn't charging" and the first one was to restart your phone. I did this and everything now works great. However, I have likely thrown out some working items and spent about £30 on stuff I didn't need just because of a software bug. :(
I like this wireless stand as it works. It holds the phone at a nice angle so I can see the messages as they appear rather than having to move my head over the old flat Belkin thing. Can even have the phone in landscape and charge too. Plus, the biggest bonus over the Belkin Pad -- it doesn't slide off all the stand all the time.
Always use Anker products - first one I had a problem with, normally fnatastic and my go-to cables and chargers.
Phones got warm whilst charging and using, but overall great.
Shame it stopped working and really difficult to find anything customer services for return on Amazon wesite.
So ended up buying another wireless pad (Anker circular one - that works fine, use it lots)
Arrived from a flight late last night, put my phone on the stand with about 11% battery, indicators lit up to say that it was charging, woke up 6 hours later and it was completely flat.
Now I can't even return it as I'm overseas and won't be back in UK soon enough to return it within the window. Never buying another Anker product again.
