Bought two of these. Anker is pretty good quality. What we found with this model is that is DOES hold a large electricity supply, but it has very poor shelf life. That is, if I fully charge it, then keep it on my desk for a week or two without using it, it DISCHARGES completely. While in use, yes, it can power a phone or two quite well. But it is not reliable as a backup if it has been sitting around more that a few days.
EDIT:
Dec. 9, 2016: The seller noticed my poor review and felt that they wanted to help me out. They sent me another battery FREE, postage prepaid. It works perfectly-- good shelf life, not like the first two. When I told the seller, then they sent me ANOTHER one... free. So now I have two GOOD ones which do hold the shelf life, from a company who really cares about making the product right!

If I could give negative stars, I would. The charger was in my brothers pocket since he was heading out for the night, not connected to anything and suddenly it exploded in his pocket. Luckily he removed his pants quick enough so it did not burn his skin severely although his clothes were damaged.

Output power kills its own battery

I originally bought this for my old iPhone 5S with a dying battery and an identical one for an old Android phone. The pack worked fine at the time. A few months afterwards I upgraded my phone to an iPhone X, and I realized that it wasn't compatible.

I plug the pack with a full charge and it quickly drains in less than 5min raising the iPhone battery by ~5%. When I charge back the pack it immediately gets to three bars and to a full charge within less than 5min. This behavior indicates poor battery management. The iPhone seems to ask for too much power which leads the battery to overload and to provide a low-charge signal when there is still plenty of power available in the pack.

However, an identical pack being used with the Android phone also drains quickly, but in that case it gets to about 25%, which is somewhat more useful. This indicates poor battery life.

Better Safe than Sorry - You Never Know

I was out of state and spent a lot of time out of the hotel charging areas. I had an iPhone 6, not suppose to be affected by the new IOS upgrade, but that proved to be wrong. It would go from 70% to 20% in seconds, then shut off. With this condition, if you plug it into a power source for as little as 10 seconds, it will return to the 70% level. The charger worked flawlessly, brought my phone back to life on several occasions, and since it is small, i could leave it in my pocket connected to the phone for a complete charge.
On one occasion, before I had this unit, my wife and I were waiting for an Uber Driver around 10p and the phone went dead, so we lost the ride. We had to rely on a regular taxi, at over twice the price. If I had this charger on that occasion, the savings would have paid for the unit.
I'm on an iPhone 7 now, and have had wonderful results with the battery life, however, if I know I'm going to out and about in an extended period of time, you'd better believe I'll have it with me. You Never Know!

The unit is now just shy of 2 years old and is done. I tried boosting the charge on my iPhone Xs, it was at 70%. I got it up to 82%, the Anker dropped to one flashing bar and got really hot. Looks like the end of the line. It was nice while it lasted.

I'm giving 5 stars not only to the product but overwhelming to Anker's customer service. They are Amazon quality all the way through. Here is why.

About 3 months ago I bought it as an extra juice for my phone but never got use it thoroughly when it arrived (my bad). I did some quick tests, charged it and never minded it for a while. It turns out it was charging for a couple of seconds and as soon as my screen was off it stopped charging.

Fast forward to a coupe of weeks ago. I actually needed to charge my phone and I noticed that it wasn't working. Worst of all, it wasn't working with my phone (Nexus 5X). It worked with my kindle devices, my partner's phones (Nexus 6p and Samsung 5S), and pretty much any other device in the house.

I reached to Anker's customer service through email explaining the situation. They asked me to test a bit to discard a possibility of faulty cable or that my phone was actually defective. That out of the way the sent me a new unit in about 4 days.

They were nothing but polite and understanding. Guess who is only choosing Anker from now on?

P.S.: If you are from Anker, give a big thanks to Shae for me, impeccable job.

I used this charger about 10 times in the past 3 months. It was great at the beginning. It would fully charge an iPhone 6 plus twice before needing a recharge. However, something happened and now only the 1st and 3rd blue lights indicate charging. The unit gets very hot. It discharges very quickly and does not charge for vary long. My initial good experience did not last long. Don't waste your money on an inferior product.

Update on order
After posting about the issue I was contacted by Anker Support. They apologised and shipped me a new 6700mAh charger. This thing is AMAZING. I decided to give it a test to see how it works. I have charged my s7 THREE times to full from about 20% without recharging the pack and its now on one bar. Will def recommend this model over the 5200mAh. Great product may win some over but great products and great customer service guarantees a returning customer.

Bought this in February 2017 It is now December 2017. It started off great and would give me an avg of 1 and a half charges on my s7. Now it barely charges from 20 to 70 % without dying. Buy at your own risk as it really doesnt seem to last long Especially looking at other comments on orders.

I bought this for my girlfriend as she loves Pokémon Go but it was draining her battery by lunchtime on some days.

It's quite compact as the description says. They're right, it's about the size of a Coffee Crisp - thinner and shorter, but a little wider. Feels well built too.

It functions perfectly fine, however there's really no quick charging to speak of. With most Androids these days getting larger batteries every year, even the 2.1 A charger port in this guy can feel a little slow. You need 2.4A or a quick charging technology of some kind. It will charge you phone but don't expect to jump from 0 to 50 in half an hour, as some phones claim.

Overall a great purchase but it just charges a little slower than I'd like.

I really wish the cables included with these things were longer and stronger. Anker sells great USB cables and should consider bundling those with their product. Otherwise it's a battery bank and it works as expected. Fast Charging does not seem to work however.

Update: Anker reached out to me and replaced the micro usb cable with one of their sturdier versions. It's appreciate that their support reached out to solve the problem.

Failing after 8-9 months...

Updated Aug 10, 2017. I filed a warranty claim with Anker with their generic e-mail address and got a response right away. And they shipped me a new one right away after accepting my story of the bad battery within a year. All I had to do was give them the Amazon invoice and confirm my address and had it within a few days. The new one is working just like the original. Didn't have to return the old broken one.

Updated July 19, 2017. The battery is not holding a charge anymore. It only lasts 30 minutes charging my iPhone 5S and gives me only half a phone charge now. It didn't slowly lose its functionality, it just happened over night. The first 15 minutes its full bar after a full nights charge; then it all of a sudden dropped to 2 bars (out of 4). Then the last 15 minutes, the last bar blinks (indicating extremely low charge left); and then just dies. Super sad because this was a beautiful size. No dents or damage to the battery pack, so I don't know why it just died.

Works as advertised. Charged my iPhone 5S pretty quickly. Thought this would solve iPhone's issue of using china version cables by increasing the amps to 2 or higher (old battery pack was small and only did 1 amp). But that didn't help... iPhone wants to see their own certified cables used. Battery pack fits in my jeans pocket no problem along with my phone in it too. Bulky, but fits and isn't too uncomfortable. Takes a bit to charge, but that's expected for 5200mAh. I also like the charging input is far away from the output so i can charge the battery while charging my phone plugged into it. No flashlight like my old one, oh well.
