A riveting good read! This is a very comprehensive history, rich with forgotten and censored old tales of erotica as well as fascinating references to contemporary online phenomena such as reddit's community of fappenauts. I especially appreciate the effort taken to explore the censorship of female sexual pleasure. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, pornography, or sexuality. Which is to say, everyone. Everyone should read this book.
If you want a good, general history about what was seen as pornography and obscenity from Victorian times to today, this is a good book to pick up. It's a fascinating history into obscenity, what can happen when "bawdy" works are suddenly in the hands of the masses, and how the Church played its part in making porn "bad." I can't wait to see what Brian comes up with next.
The content of this book is good, but the typos make it almost unreadable for a spelling / grammar nazi like me. There are also a lot of references to "as I said before," or "as I noted previously" which seem superfluous. A good editor would improve it greatly.
