While I am only about half through the first book (and will certainly update my review if it changes), I'm pretty thrilled with this collection. It's exactly as the description claims: it's easy to jump from one book to another using the Table of Contents. Once you reach the desired book, it is easy to jump from chapter to chapter. I'm giving this only four stars, because the editing isn't perfect; I've noticed a couple odd words and phrases. (Example: "Parthian shot" became "Parthian shaft.") Thus far, however, they are minor and have not significantly impacted my enjoyment. And for the price (I paid $0.99), it's certainly not a big deal.
Over all, I highly recommend this collection. As I stated, if my opinion changes as I read further, I will certainly update my review.
Note: I could be wrong but I think some of the reviews of these collections are not specific to the collection. If you look at several collections and the reviews, they have the exact same number of reviews and the same reviews. I think all of the reviews are lumped together. I found no formatting errors, no typos, etc., in THIS collection from Timeless Reads. In fact, I bought Anne of Windy Willows and Anne of Ingleside separately, because they are NOT included in this collection (as clearly stated) and I found typos there. So, be careful in choosing a specific collection.
The introduction from Timeless Reads is also very helpful so you can read the books in chronological order and to know which 2 books are not included in the collection due to copyright restrictions. Enjoy! What a writer she was.
This is a nice compilation of her works well worth the money, and holds your interest.
In the first of Montgomery's books, Anne Shirley is a young orphaned girl with a brilliant mind and blessed with the gift of a strong imagination. The books walk you through Ann going from being and orphan to gaining a family, love, and her adventure of many journeys while walking the reader through Anne's life. Very enjoyable read.
As a nonfiction writer myself, what especially fascinated me me was that the collection enabled me to watch Lucy Maud Montgomery's evolution as a writer, and to realize her canny understanding of the market for which she wrote. It was also intriguing to realize that more than a century ago, at a time when we like to imagine life was simpler and less stressful than now, the market for nostalgic fiction was just as robust as it is in our time.
It continues to amaze me how many new characters Ms Montgomery can come up with all so realistic and true to the real people of Prince Edward Island. Now I have discovered another series, the Emily Stories. I hope today's children and young people won't find these stories too tame for this age of sex and violence. It warmed my heart to return to a time around the turn of the 20th century when morals were high, people had values, and faith was strong. While not necessarily classified as Christian fiction, these stories depict a page in Canadian history from which we peoples of the 21st century, both American and Canadian, can read with nostalgia, I never realized before what a long ordeal World War I became for the people of Canada.

I am reading the second book, which I look forward to opening each evening; Anne is now a school teacher (although only 17) and has further adventures and relationships with Avonlea characters.
