Annie is a D.C. lawyer. Logical assessment is how she approaches life. So the fact she can teleport really throws her off. I liked that humor. She was a girl with a sense of humor. That gave her another dimension for me that made me love her.
How she gained her power really threw me a little. But I don't think that it is the author's fault. I think I just couldn't get it.
Tyler wants her and so does Stone. Stone is hell bent on protecting her and Tyler is more the boy next door kind of guy. Each have a piece of her heart.
I loved this book on many levels. I highly recommend reading the entire series in order, and picking this one up. I think you will find a love that is different and unexpected.
Five Shooting Stars
I really liked how this book was about Annie. We already met Annie in the previous book and aside from going through some pretty terrible things involving the Incan prophecy where her friend Layla is a part of, she's pretty normal... until she finds out she can teleport and plays her own part in the prophecy. Add meeting Stone, who's been drawn to her for ages (literally) and things really start getting interesting.
As much as I liked reading about Annie, it was Stone that I adored. He was sexy, protective about Annie and also pretty fun to read about. I kinda wished there was a little more character developement for him but I still loved him anyway.
Only negative thing was that I felt like the story was a wee bit rushed but other than that I liked it. If you haven't read this series yet and are interested in reading unique paranormal books featuring Incan mythology I'd say give it a shot!
Annie understands magic exists. She’s seen it firsthand. But now that she’s experiencing powers of her own she doesn’t want to accept the fact she may have been meant to have them.
Sifting through space, without warning, is becoming more and more dangerous as she can’t control when it will happen or where she will end up. Thankfully, time and time again the sexy stranger known as Stone is there to help her and some cases shroud them from watchful eyes. Too bad that power only works on humans.
“This one lies. He will only bring pain.” Stone glared at Tyler, before addressing Annie and adding, “I will take care of you. If you let me.”
With a determined man wanting to be her roommate and a mysterious stranger always showing up when she needs him Annie is confused on who to trust. Last time she trusted a stranger she ended up trapped inside black sludge that almost cost her life. This time she’ll have to trust herself to make the correct decision.
“If history were repeating itself, one her destined mate; and the other was a crazy religious zealot who would try to kill her.”
For a novella this packs quite the little punch. Annie’s Defiance is filled with suspense, intrigue, and an intense sexual desire that crosses lifetimes. Seeing it finally fulfilled is a sweet perfection.
“Don’t you see? Your new powers canoot be a coincidence. You’re Nature’s girl, now, and I’m taking that as a sign that all hell won’t break loose if I act on my feelings.”
I really enjoy this series and I’m looking forward to reading the next book, Cadence’s Cauldron.
My Favorite Moment: I love where her ‘safe’ place is and when she lands there with Stone and they try to get out it turns into a comedy of events…but one that ends in a searing hot passion that will heat up the pages.
In this book we meet Annie and Stone. Annie has received powers from mother nature, and they are starting to manifest themselves at the most inopportune times. Annie is a lawyer handling and fairly large insurance case. Annie needs to be on her A game but this new power has her moving through space to another location which does nothing to help calm her down. One one of her shifts she finds herself in front of the Washington Monument, there she meets a man who calls himself Stone and tells her he will always protect her. Annie still isn't sure she can trust him. After talking to her best friend Annie thinks that it might be safer to have a roommate who can at least alert others if she doesn't return. That night she gets two men who inquire about the room one is Stone the other is a doctor named Tyler. Annie isn't sure who to believe or what secrets either man is keeping from her.
Stone wants to tell Annie everything but he is forbidden from doing so. She must figure it out on her own but waiting is killing him. He wants her and he wants her now.
This is a short story about finding love and holding on to it for all time. This story can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading the others first to have a full understand of what is being talked about in this book. I would recommend it, it will have you hooked from the first word to the very last.
