I don't remember my last batch of these coming like this batch. It's a good deal instead of purchasing in stores, although I added it up and it's only slightly better deal and wouldn't be if I had to pay shipping. These are an ingenious way to get your 100 percent vitamin C per day, however, if you have quite a bit of dental work, you may not care for gummys very much as they tend to stick to teeth. I love them, but wonder how I can possibly be spending this much on small packages that have 12 little gummys each in them. I'm just saying. I must love them, right? Well, really close to that. Yum. I had to go open a package and am chewing them into juicy matter. I love, love, love the taste. So, why don't they get five stars? Well, I'm not sure who's fault it is, because, like I said, it didn't happen last order... Someone decided to wrap my boxes with tape that pulls the bunny art right off the boxes... now, am I gonna feel like sharing this little box with my massage therapist or her daughter or am I going to think twice about it cause it looks as if it came from some mark-down-all-items place... Guess I'll have to eat them all myself! oh, how said do you think I am about that? Well, I think I can manage this problem this time, but I hope that that person who did that to my boxes won't be handling my boxes several months from now when I reorder... I'm going to have to delay my next purchase because I won't have been able to share and I can't possibly let myself eat all these luscious chewy nibbles in a hurry... must savor the flavor... oh, I can give away small packages? Who would think of that? Oh, alrighty... I will just have to break down and give a few small sacks away.... but not today. Can't you tell I am recommending these?

Good snack food

First, I'm not an "organic" food expert. Far from it, in fact. But recently, I decided to try out some healthier food choices, and that is how I came across Annie's Homegrown Berry Patch Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks. There's been one thing driving my recent food purchases, and that's something my "Principles of Nutrition" professor in college said: "always eat food as close to its source as possible". Where possible, it's preferential to eat food that was grown / raised geographically close to you. Also, eating food "close to its source" means eating food in a form close to how it is found in nature (i.e., not overly processed).

While I hold no illusions that these Fruit Snacks are in any way a "health food", I think compared to their competition, they are way ahead, both in quality of ingredients, and in taste. The "berry" description of the taste is accurate, in my opinion. I find that they have a great balance of fruit-tartness, along with the perfect amount of sweetness. They are certainly not overly sweet like many snacks. The texture of these snacks seems a bit "stickier" than some of the more mainstream competitors, and perhaps less "gummy". I don't find this offensive, and have grown to prefer it, really.

As for the cost - yes, these are expensive. When you first see the relatively small individual serving bag, you might think you got ripped off. But these Fruit Snacks are extremely satiating, and even though you may have only eaten a relatively small amount, you end up satisfied, and full.

Given the cost, you might not be able to justify eating these every day, but I'd have no problem recommending these as a treat to have a few times a week. Great taste, a seemingly decent set of ingredients, and a decent increase in quality vs. the competition.

READ UPDATE BELOW THIS ORIGINAL REVIEW---- Love love love these! My sister visited from out of state, I gave her some. She handed back and said I hate gummy bears! I said TRY THESE! - she did and smiled - OMG these are wonderful! She is now buying them too.
The nice thing - they are Organic and no food coloring! read ingredients! My sister has diabetes and said the sugars in these are not that bad either for her diabetes. I am no doctor so check with yours that is just what my sister stated.

UPDATE 5/2015 --- THEY HAVE CHANGED THE FORMULA for this product ----- not good anymore! and THEY UPPED THE PRICE TOO! by $8.00 since Feburary 2015 something is wrong here don't you think? Inferior product and price increase!

I loved these snacks. They're quite sweet and seem to almost melt in your mouth like firm gummy jello. This pack comes all taped together, so you'll be able to slowly segregate them into packs for various people, and each box is a good amount for a few weeks.

About the only thing that I didn't like in this product was the 'natural flavoring' ingredient. I am one of those odd characters that studies up on ingredient lists, and the only thing objectionable to me was the 'natural flavoring' label. It turns out that this could be any sort of chemical, as long as it came from a natural source. To quote a Google search that I found:

The definition of natural flavor under the Code of Federal Regulations is: “the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional” (21CFR101.22).

Not a major issue for me, but as someone who likes to read the ingredient lists, and looks into natural and organic foods on a lark I found it interesting.

I will admit that I paid the premium price because they said they were organic. My daughter loves gummy snacks and I was hoping for some that were reasonably healthy and tasty. And I have to say that I just wasn't over the top with them. And neither was the kiddo. I had great hopes, but they are a tad too soft and not as flavorful as I would have hoped for. And that, combined with the price being higher than what I can buy organic fruit snacks at Aldi's for a fraction of the price, meant that I will not be purchasing these again.
