PROOFREAD, PROOFREAD, PROOFREAD people! Come on. The typos, misspelling, etc. were so numerous that I was distracted from the enjoyment of reading this book. Too bad because the author is entertaining, and the story is fun.

Ousted intelligence chiefs mix with bad cops and deceitful women to weave a net of intrigue and murder on this quiet coast of Florida. Great characters, a tight and intriguing story line and plenty of surprises from cover to cover. There is almost no good way for the detective to move except forward into increasing danger. A fascinating series and well worth the time.

Tree Callister is the only detective on Sanibel Island. He is hired to find a missing woman. He thinks it will be an easy case, but he is oh so wrong. Soon his marriage is in trouble, his son is again accused of his wife's murder, and Tree's life is being threatened. What started out being a missing person soon ends up being a few murders, theft and much, much more.

This story is well written except for some needed editing. The characters are well described and easy to understand. The book as a whole is jam packed with action and adventure. I do recommend this story for age 16 and up. No sex scenes in it folks. No cuss words.

I have read the first & third books in this series.
To someone who grew up in Ft. Myers, the first book was a little too much like a Chamber of Commerce advertisement.
Although, I do understand for those unfamiliar with the area, it needed to be that informative.
The third book struck me as much deeper. Just the right amount of local reference to make a former resident feel at home and long for times long ago, before Sanibel became so popular.
Being familiar with not only the area but the history & many longtime residents, I am impressed by the accuracy of the local details.

"Another" great read by Ron Base. This is a continuation of the saga of the Florida newspaper guy turned detective, but you will enjoy this installment whether you've read the first or not - I'm on to book three in the series. In this story, Detective Tree continues to be battered by the job, loved by his wife, Freddie, annoyed by the police that hinder rather than help, and confused by the actions/situations of his son. You can't help but root for Tree and those he loves. Enjoy!

I was so hoping to find another talented author from south Florida like Randy Wayne White or R S Novelle with well developed characters and rich plots full of unexpected twisits and turns, but I was sadly mistaken. This work was very flat, poorly developed characters and a thin, weak plot. What a disappointment. Could have maybe made an okay short story or comic book...maybe.

Interesting local info in the mystery.. although the resolution was really a bit disappointing. Seems like the Sanibel Sunset Detective really might look for a different line of work - he pretty much stumbled through the story - and things happened to him, but not of his own making. The number of dead bodies that popped up around him was pretty amazing.

Started off unbelievable. After three international spooks all wanted to hire the hero to find the damsel in distress, I was ready to hang it up.
But, I stayed with it, and I came to like the hero a bit more.
The end was exciting, and did a good job of tying up all the loose ends.
