If Kody Templeman is the main reason you're into Teenage Bottlerocket, this album probably isn't for you. This is before Kody joined, so it's all Ray Carlisle's vocals.
This is an album reminiscent of The Riverdales, The Mr. T Experience, The Queers, and the Ramones. The lyrics aren't as witty as Templeman's lyrics, but, on the other hand, I can actually listen to this with my child in the car, because it doesn't have the off-color parts typical of Templeman's lyrics, either.
Another Way is a fairly raw album compared to the later Bottlerocket material, but the deluxe edition seems to have been polished a little bit, because the mix is less muddy than the original release. It has some great songs. "Be Stag" is a classic, and the album contains the original versions of "Rebound" and "A-Bomb." (Even though I have the original release, I bought the deluxe version because the "A-Bomb" EP and Bill The Welder split songs are on this.)
Personally, this is one of my favorite Bottlerocket albums because it's so raw but still has pop-punk hooks, and the lyrics are relatively clean compared to newer albums. But if you don't like that kind of production, or prefer Kody over Ray, then you might want to pass on this one.
