High Absorption*Both krill oil and fish oil contain the omega-3 fats EPA and DHA, but some evidence suggests that these fats from krill oil may be easier to absorb. Most of the omega-3 fats in krill oil are formed in molecules called phospholipids, which may be easier to absorb into the bloodstream.* |
Brain Health*EPA and DHA have been shown to support the protection of brain circulatory function and assist memory and other cognitive capacities. EPA and DHA support multiple body systems including the liver, joints, eyes, and muscular systems. Strong research suggests that taking a krill oil supplement daily can have a positive impact on overall wellness.* |
Essential Fatty Acids*Each Krill oil softgel contains the omega-3 fats EPA and DHA. Studies have found that krill oil may be more effective than fish oil at raising omega-3 levels, because of the differing forms of omega-3 fats. These important fats help support the health of the brain, heart, and other body systems.* |
Humans need a variety of fatty acids for our cell membranes to function. EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are essential to cell function. They are fundamental building blocks for cellular systems. Krill oil, which contains these essential fatty acids, is derived from a tiny, cold-water, shrimp-like animal. It is put into softgel form to make it easily accessible as a daily supplement (much easier to take than eating actual krill!) Antarctic krill refers to the species of krill called Euphausia superba. This is a great way to give yourself a source of omega-3 fats found only in marine sources. Antarctic krill oil, in easy to swallow softgel form, is linked to a variety of health benefits.*

Pure Krill Oil 1000mg w/Astaxanthin & Omega 3 xl
Refund
Original:
Started buying this to help lower my LDL and increase my HDL ratios. Literature suggests that Krill oil is better absorbed than fish oil. However, I do note that IU are not really established like RDA - Recommended Daily Allowances so keep that in mind. The FDA has not set a RDA value for this in mg either. To me, anything over 1000 mg is leaning towards excessive. So I figured 500 mg was decent enough for my needs based on my most recent blood labs. I though about starting with 350 mg but I think when I compare the next set of labs, I'll make the decision. Anyways, I did look up the brands as I did find cheaper but I was nervous about some findings that suggested either another cheaper brand was a shell for international bulk suppliers and such. This company wasn't as mainstream but I was able to be more comfortable with them so I tried this once.
The ingredients only say Krill oil and it's sub-break downs. I was looking for artificial coloring since some others would ad as Krill oil but be the same color of regular fish oil, smell more like it or something else that would look suspect. So far, the oil had a hint of fishy smell but not surely like other various fish oil supplements I had in the past. The oil was reddish in color so ok. This certainly did not produce fishy belches like the fish oils in the past so yes, that was a difference too. I think overall, if my labs come back with improvement, I will get it again or see if I can find a lower mg from the same brand.
Just a note: anybody that has issues with fatty foods (IBS, etc..), may want to start with a lower dose like 325 to see if it it bothers your digestive.
