Not good, not avantgarde

I like comics and manga and wanted to see something a bit different. This is not what I was looking for. First of all this manga manages to break both rules for manga format. Manga art can either be flipped (which unfortunately mirrors the image so people become left handed, words are written backwards, etc.) or the book is reversed and you read it "backwards." This book manages to try to do both and therefore fails. Each page is read backwards from right to left but the book is bound in a western left to right style. It is very disconcerting and combines the problems of both formats. The stories themselves are not all that great. They are violent and creepy. The only redeeming quality is that it is sorta surreal and has a different art style then most manga. The publisher seems to be some sort of vanity press sorta thing. I regret buying this on a whim. (If you want an avantgarde manga buy Comics Journal number 250 from Fantagraphics it contains Screw-Style by Yoshiharu Tsuge which is good and an important work for avant-garde manga plus you get to read other cool stuff like an essay by Charles Schulz)
