This book is amazing! I would recommend this book to anyone. It is very inclusive and really makes you look at all aspect of your anxiety and depression and their root cause. By analyzing your feelings, thoughts, and history you start a self-awareness process that allows for recovery.

I have personally dealt with anxiety my entire life- 23 years. In that time I have concentrated on "fixing" it for the last 8. I have seen counselors, medications, psychiatrist, and read many self help books. This book is the first that actually has helped considerably. I can not stress enough that it really makes you take a look at yourself, which is where the healing lies. If you are unwilling, or unable to take a hard look at the truth, and get real with yourself- nothing is going to work for you!

I contacted the authors- and they returned my e-mail same day! You don't see that very often, these people know what they are doing, and exactly how to do it! Thank you.

In hindsight, I wish that I had started with the "Anxiety for Dummies" and the "Depression for Dummies" books first. I found that in my condition of extreme anxiety and depression there was much to high school like work to be studied over. The authors probably meant it to be set up this way, on ways to deal with your mental conditions after you understand them. So I blame myself for jumping straight into the "Workbook" phase which I found to be quite tedious under my current condition.
Sincerely, Terence Neill.

This is a practical step-by-step workbook with checklists and exercises to help identify the root of the problem, gain new understanding of it, review possible courses of action, and develop a wide range of coping skills and positive habits. It offers a hands-on approach to manage depression and anxiety and reduce emotional distress. I highly recommend this book.

I have been reviewing books in this category for a group of friends who fit in the title classification. I found this workbook to be my favorite so far. The layout and arrangement are logical, but the book also gives the option of working on topics of special interest first. I will definitely recommend this book.

As the title suggests, this workbook is not the best, but slightly helpful. All the things (or most) within this book would be gone over by a therapist in a regular session or two. I should know, but anyways while trying to recover from depression and anxiety a workbook isn't the best answer. It does help you figure out some of the causes of your everyday stressors and triggers for your depression and anxiety. Not to be belittling of a workbook or someone trying to get help, but it's heavily suggested that you get yourself a regular therapist. A workbook cannot help you fully deal with your psychological issues only help you get to know them a bit better. It's a long workbook, but for someone like me it does not help. The chapters go over things I have known for years and just spark little interest for completing to read...but perhaps for someone with a lesser degree of depression and anxiety it could help. To know if it is right for you possibly go to a book store and check out a few more pages than allowed on this site. If it helps come buy it here since it's cheaper, but at your own interest.

I felt like i was the only one in the world experiencing some of the symptoms i read about it the book it was very helpful to read that other people feel like i do too. I am diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression and see a psychiatrist weekly but bought this book to do some exercises and homework myself. There are quite a few parts in the book that are N/A because I am already diagnosed and some parts have a symptom checklist "if you check of this # of symptoms you need to see a psychiatrist" didn't apply to me because i already do but VERY HELPFUL & INTERESTING!!! I would recommend this book to anyone with anxiety and depression already diagnosed or not.
