- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2023Adjust your Z-offset!!
The majority of the negative reviews for this printer seem to boil down to miscalibrated Z-offset. Follow the instructions in the instructions booklet for this after assembly, and make sure you set your voltage on the back of the machine appropriately for your region before firing it up for the first time.
Additional notes:
• The included Cura profile is subpar and has a 6mm retraction distance where it should be set to 1mm. I strongly recommend searching for "sclebo kobra neo github" and downloading his profile for your chosen slicer; I've been getting consistently great results with his settings.
• If you're having adhesion issues, wash and level your bed! I've never needed to use glue sticks or any other kind of binding agent with the stock PEI bed; a good wash (soap + water + microfiber cloth) and a good level should get you good results, at least with PLA.
• Don't forget to re-set your Z-offset after leveling! I usually run leveling every time I have to remove and reattach the plate; the firmware will reset your Z-offset to 0 after the leveling operation, and you'll have to get that back to where you had it.
• Check your Z-axis gantry; my right side was too loose out of the box and was visibly unlevel, and I initially overtightened it to the point that it would lag behind the left side as the Z axis moved up. There's a blurb on this in the booklet; you really should read the booklet back to front.
With the above points in mind, I've been able to operate this printer for months without any kind of maintenance required. I get consistent prints with great first layers; I'm frankly shocked at how consistent this printer has been for the price I paid. Strong recommendation; the Kobra Neo is genuinely a hidden gem of a bed-slinger and a great introductory printer for beginners and seasoned experts looking for a budget addition to their printer inventory.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2023This printer was great for about three weeks. Easy to set up. Easy to dial in. Printed pretty clean with a few types of PLA. Unfortunately, the heated bed temp sensor broke, causing repeated failed prints. Tech support suggested I disable the heated bed (first two prints failed like that before I decided to quit wasting materials) and wait until they had more of those assemblies in stock, at which point they'd send one along. No date given on that, beyond "sometime next month". Fair enough. You work with what you've got, and that wasn't a completely unreasonable solution, but Amazon took the return, and that was better for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2023I've had the old "build them yourself" models and this is leaps and bounds more user friendly. I went from the box on the front porch to printing in about 15 maybe 20 minutes after putting in a few bolts, and doing some minor calibration.
NOTE! - Use the autocalibration, and THEN do a Z-axis calibration. I found about -1.7mm to be perfect.
The flexible build plate is a god-send for removing prints.
