The women in these bands got real problems. I can't stop watching. There is another movie on here "Mark Of the Ninja." These guys did another film called "This Is Berlin Not New York" I realy liked that one.

On this DVD you get two films for the price of one. What a great deal. First "Anything Boys Can Do..." This is a film about crazy girl bands in the Lower East Side in the early 90's. Most of these bands are no longer even around and to be honest I hadn't heard of any of them until I saw this film. But know I'm a fan of most of them. Lots of interviews and live footage of the bands. But if your not in to punk rock then you will hate this movie.

The second film "Mark of the Ninja" is a doc about struggling artists in the Lower East Side from the Antagonist Art Movement. This is how I found this film. They did another called "This Is Berlin Not New York" a few years latter. "Mark of the Ninja" covers the art events they did in the year 2004. Galleries, street art, and more. This film alone makes this DVD worth it. A most have if your a young artist.

Also by the same group.
Barstool Prophets
The Dolls Of Lisbon
This Is Berlin Not New York
The Soft Hustle

I don't think this will play on any broadcast channels, but maybe thats what make this a great DVD. Women in rock and roll bands from the Lower East Side, I wish I had a chnace to see them.

The punk scene of the 20th century was awesome, rebellious, and male dominated. Was that just because the chicks weren't interested? Not quite. The stories of the women in this film are captivating. The obstacles they overcome to perform and be taken seriously are significant and surprising. In addition to the powerful stories, the women interviewed are all doing the same thing - playing in the female music scene - yet they have different perspectives of what it means to be feminist, a woman, and navigating a male dominated music scene and society. This film is a fascinating exploration of people working to make minority voices heard in the ways that they know best: music, performing and writing. This is a movie about real women in rock. You may be shocked. If you are shocked, well, what is it that women should be doing?

Mark of the Ninja:
See the Antagonist Art Movement in their early years! Great film to watch for anyone who is interested in art, NYC, or doing things your own way. If you've seen one of their recent films, This Is Berlin Not New York or Dolls of Lisbon, you'll definitely enjoy this one!

The Antagonist Movement has a long list of films and books and I'm a fan of them all. This film from the early 90's is more of a traditional doc in many ways. Live shows and interviews. It covers women in bands, who make fanzines, skinheads and punk rockers, too Riot Grrl. There is a entire world of underground music I never knew about.

Here are a few other things they have done.

Barstool Prophets
This Is Berlin Not New York
The Dolls Of Lisbon
The Soft Hustle
