*sigh* oh Reagan and Noah! Where do I start? This was my first book by Rebecca I have read and I have to say i'm a total fan! (yes, I know this is book 2 in the series But I'm totally catching up on book 1 as soon as I finish some of these ARC's) but anywho back to the book! I went in to this book thinking it was gonna be a fluffy college romance (Bahahaha well okay so it is a college romance) and there are some angsty adorable moments sure but I was not aware of how much this couple was going to mess with my emotions! There were moments to where I wanted to shake them both, tell them to get over themselves and be happy but then still other moments where you just want to hang out with them and commiserate that while things suck sometimes love doesn't always show up under ideal circumstances it's worth fighting for.
These characters draw you in to their story and Rebecca's writing style makes it insanely relatable (like I was comparing Noah and Reagan to people I knew in college within just a few chapters) she gives a depth to the characters that you don't typically find in some of the college romances. She gives us people not just two-dimensional characters. They love and live and breathe right off the pages.
The road to romance for these two starts out with some snarky interactions (which are some of my favorite moments! Some people love the awww moments and while I do love them too I'm all about the spark that snarky interactions being haha) the deeper we get into the book the more we learn about why they are how they are and those are some pretty powerful realizations for each of them. Its like the light bulb comes on and then certain quirks make perfect sense. All in all if you are a fan of the New Adult genre then this is one of those can't miss books. Just don't think it's going to be a everything is sunshine and rainbows. This is real life haha there are insanely beautiful moments and some moments that are difficult to deal with but love makes it All worth while.
They've both gone through a lot and aren't quite ready to make a real commitment to someone else.
Noah has loved Reagan from afar for years and is not sure how to make his move after all this time has gone by.
Reagan's experiences have led her to be cold and determined. She doesn't easily let people in and that certainly includes Noah.
They start something surrounded by secrets and regrets and that soon turns into something more. They both have their secrets and understand each other's need to keep them to themselves. Even though neither is pushing the other to reveal their secrets, the secrets keep this wall between them.
I was so conflicted about their upcoming separation and when it finally came around it basically turned my world upside down cause I didn't expect everything that would happen in that time.
I always end up loving when couples have time apart to grow and mend because their HEA is so much sweeter.
Also, can we just talk about how amazing Rebecca's writing is?? The way her words ebb and flow is magical and gives the narrative a dreamy quality. Especially in Noah's POV.
If you’re looking for a New Adult read that gives you all of the feels, then you need to meet Reagan Landry and Noah Burke. I read the first book in this series, BETWEEN EVERYTHING AND US, and immediately knew I had found a gem in the New Adult world. Rebecca Paula left me reeling after that story so I was beyond ready for ANYTHING MORE THAN NOW. Going into this story, I was definitely skeptical; Reagan isn’t exactly likeable. She’s stone-cold one second, then a fiery ball of rage the next. Noah is a mystery you can’t wait to figure out.
“I was always running away, always searching for something. There has to be something more to life than what I’m chasing.”
Noah and Reagan have a tumultuous friendship/relationship. I loved every single one of their interactions. Noah is patient, yet wants what he wants and isn’t afraid of letting Reagan know that he wants her. Reagan isn’t ready for love – she’s not looking to find anything that isn’t in New York. That’s her next step after college: head to New York and make a name for herself.
“That’s the thing about Reagan—she’s full of fire not because she’s spirited, but because she wants to watch the world burn.”
What’s wild about this story is how absolutely layered it is. Both Noah and Reagan have a past riddled with dark secrets that they have no intention of letting see the light. They are both prideful and stubborn. But when they let themselves love and be loved, it’s magic.
“Love, lust…it’s all fleeting. It wanes, it ends, it vanishes. Then there’s Noah.”
I wasn’t expecting the real heartbreak these characters went through (although I should have expected it, especially after having read BEAU and being completely wrecked). Noah and Reagan both go through so much, yet continue to surprise me with their unbridled strength. They are the kind of characters whom I will continue to look up to and admire, long after their stories are over (but are they ever really over?) Another incredible read from Rebecca Paula. Cannot wait for the next installment in this series!
