Provocative and lush, Anything But Broken grips you from the first page and refuses to let go. I fell hard for the sexy racer car drivers of Hurricane Creek. - Kristen Callihan, USA Today best selling author of the Game On series

Joelle Knox, also the talented writing team behind Kit Rocha's dystopian 'Beyond' smexathon, has roared into the contemporary genre with tires squealing!

What I loved: This story combines the sexy male domain of grease pits and muscle cars with the angsty romance between a troubled young woman who is losing the last of her deeply dysfunctional family, and her dead sister's ex-boyfriend.

The characters are real and dimensional, with talents, connections and dreams alongside their budding romance. I cared about them from the opening pages. Loved that the heroine is a budding fabric artist - I wanted to see her have some success with that, and I hope she will in future books.

What I hope the author will keep a watch on: Do we need absolute heartache on every single page?? I could've used some occasional breathers from the heroine's pain. There seems to be nothing in her life that doesn't cause her self-doubt and tummy-twisting angst. Even with the stellar writing, that became a little exhausting.

This is a story that's going to make you "ugly" cry and gasp. The secrets revealed about the characters are just plain ugly. But it gets better. It's going to take a lot of healing, a lot of affection and a bit of caring an concern to help, but it happens. Romance happens, along with a few scares, and even a death to make it all come together... but when it does....wow.... BOOM!

Not one to read contemporary romance all that much, this was a read of all reads. Knowing that the authors pump out the Beyond Series under a different pen, but warned that this wasn't the same, I went in excited. And am not disappointed.

holy hell .... 2 am read without even blinking!

I was a little apprehensive when I read the blurb of the book because I'm not usually an NA reader. But then I clicked on the author to find out about them and wham ... Kit Rocha duo! #sold

A few things stand out to me:

~I read this book without stopping. Not because it was overly dramatic or suspenseful or even angsty ... it was easy to read. The language and format used in the story sucked me in from page one. As you can see above, it was 2 am when I finished and I didn't even know it.
~The age of the leads and supporting characters never once entered my mind. You see, young people do annoying things (lol), which are totally normal..for their age group that is. But I don't have the patience for it so I try and stay away from books involving this age group. But I never felt it, not once. So again I say ... easy to read.

So the story goes like this ... Hannah Casey is back home because Daddy drove drunk. Got himself killed and Mom is on life support. Someone has to pull the plug and Hannah is the last of the line...

Sean Whitlow is Hannah's deceased sister's ex-boyfriend (say that five times real fast lol) and he was also Hannah's first crush ...

OK, to say that Hannah had a dysfunctional relationship with her family is probably putting it mildly. They were the epitome of small town socialites who put on a facade for the world outside their home opposite that of what their life was truly like. As you read through the story, the past will unfold but it won't be the focus of the story. You will get just enough information to understand Hannah's motivations but it never takes you away from the real story...

I love the other books by these authors (this time writing under the pen name Joelle Knox) and this one doesn’t disappoint. Returning home to her father’s funeral and her mother on life support, Hannah must face the demons she and her dead sister Caitlyn grew up with. Add Caitlyn’s ex – Sean and you have a riveting book that keeps you asking, “What?” until everything is revealed.

Really liked this book. It took me a minute to see past Hannah's angst but once I got her, I got into the story better. I really liked the chemistry between Hannah and Sean. I hope that there's a book 2 coming down the road. It was an enjoyable reading experience for me.

I’m a huge, and I mean HUGE, Kit Rocha fan. Ever since a very good friend told me to read their Beyond series I’ve been hooked and have the swag to prove that I’m an O’Kane for Life, so when it was announced that the ladies behind one of my favorite series had taken on another moniker and were putting out new series there was no doubt in my mind that I’d be getting my hands on it and lo and behold, I really liked Anything but Broken.
I know some will say that it’s a given considering my fangirl love of Kit Rocha, and there is a thread of truth there that I would definitely look more favorably on anything they publish, but the flip side is that my expectation level is much higher and in the end they proved once again why I love them so much.

Anything but Broken is a true 180 degrees away from the Beyond series. It’s not dystopian and it’s not erotica, there aren’t gangs out to undermine each other. It’s New Adult Contemporary Romance but there is still that emotional connection between, and to, the characters and the feel of family ties (good and bad) that jumps off the page at you, pulls you in and keeps you turning the page and once I started it I didn’t put it down until I reached the end.

The beginning of this book is filled with so many things unsaid that I couldn’t help be be sucked in to it. There was a mystery to be solved and Hannah was the key, though she herself was so lost and broken that I couldn’t help but wonder how I’d end feeling about her and funny thing, I actually liked Hannah. She’s this mix of awkwardness, determination and honesty that I just found appealing. I connected with her and found that I really wanted her to get past her demons and live the life she should’ve been living from the start. Sean I really liked. He’s sweet, sexy and compassionate.
