I've been getting Kate Hanley's Ms. Mindbody e-letter for a while, so I was excited to hear her book was out. I was not disappointed! I'm in a particularly stressful time in my life and her simple, five- to ten-minute remedies are just the thing for a stressed out bride-to-be. The pose she suggests for my situation--Legs Up the Wall--well, let's just say I salute LUtW for its restorative powers! Some of the poses she suggests are ones I've come across in yoga and other exercise classes. Others are brand-new to me. To have them all in one place with step-by-step instructions on how to do each one correctly and a quick explanation for why it's effective--this is invaluable.

Usually I find self-help books incredibly boring. This book was very upbeat and easy to read and full of simple, practical techniques that are easy to add to your normal routine. Breathing, meditation, and simple poses or exercises all really help. The table of contents is set up by particular problems so it will be easy to reference in the future.

The author thought out many possible places, situations, and reasons that could cause stress to someone.... then created stress relief methods for all these possibilities! From all out stress relief techniques you can do at home.... to good tips and exercises for relieving or reducing stress everywhere else! There's even sneaky little things you can do at work to relieve/reduce stress... and no one else will know! No need to tell others about your stress!!! What stress?? You've got to get the book... IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

0812: I recently purchased after reading the reviews and it is actually better than what I anticipated. Just as decribed, it reads like a quick, easy recipe book for reducing stress. When you are having a tough moment, we all would like a quick description of how to alleviate the stress at that moment. Deep breathing may not alone always be effective and who always has time for meditation? Her table of contents is quite creative in that you can find nearly any situation that might suggest anxiety. ie from job interview to road rage to upset with a friend. I rarely provide reviews, but I believe this handy book is worth it. In fact, I just bought 5 more to give as gifts.

I am a huge fan of Kate and her website Ms. Mindbody. I loved this book. It has become my daily handbook. I take it to work with me every day and it is been like a life saver for me most days. It makes me laugh out loud. Truly a gift.

Funny and charming, but also useful, this book is the bible for the stress prone person (I know, I am one.) Kate Hanley writes about serious stress issues in an approachable way and her remedies are actually doable!! If you're a freaker outer like me, or just in the market for some enlightenment, get this book!!
