I bought this album a couple weeks ago, and I've listened to it almost every day! I can listen to this CD over and over again without getting tired of it. The lyrics are great and can be easily related to. I love all the tracks, but my favorite would have to be Boxcar, even though The Ataris didn't write it. Another one of my favorites is Alone in Santa Cruz, I can really relate to it. The Ataris have a sound similar to Greenday, so if you are a fan of them, I recommend this album (or any albums from The Ataris). This is a very worthwhile CD!

Before The Ataris gave in and rode the wave of sound-alike emo bands into mainstream acceptance, they were a decent, if unremarkable pop-punk band in the vein of Green Day and the Descendents. Accordingly, Anywhere But Here is a decent, if unremarkable pop-punk album in the vein of Green Day and the Descendents. The Ataris speed through 21 songs that sound suspiciously alike in under 40 minutes, rarely dropping the tempo. It's a far cry from So Long, Astoria. Like most punk albums of its length, the songs eventually begin to blend together, but a few still leave an impression. "Anderson" is a hilarious middle finger to a boring hometown, and "Hey Kid" blends Descendents style pop-punk with a mellow ska riff. Remarkably, the Ataris play some very emotional pop-punk, but on this album they never really cross the line into whiney emo, at least not until the hidden track, but that's a cover of a Weezer song, and it's pretty good anyway. If you're a fan of pop-punk, chances are you'll like this.

This is the Ataris first album called ...Anywhere but here and I bought it through amazon.com. This is a great first cd by the Ataris. They are a pop punk band from Astoria NY. Some of the songs are: Bite my tongue, Make it last, Clara, Let it go, and many others.

Ok. The Ataris, what's there to say. They were never great and they never will be but they have their moments. Still, call me crazy, it might just be because I've owned it since before I had pubic hair, but Anywhere But Here is kind of great for what it is. I mean, Blue Skies is their best because they actually developed their own sound by then, and the writing's a lot better but I still think Anywhere but Here's a bit underrated. Lyrically, a lot of these songs are almost laughable due to the rhyming dictionary-esque quality that Kris Roe gives them, but I never cared. Lyrics were never The Ataris appeal anyway, aside from the nostalgia shtick. Every song on this album's like a minute long and they all pretty much grow on you. Some of these are infectious, still.. I'm not sure if older fans of punk'll be able to get into it. It's definitely better when you're a kid. I still like it though. It's the best generic pop-punk album ever. Oh, and Ray is amazing. I think they just did it to show that they could be a hardcore band if they wanted to be. Either way, thats good hardcore. Even if it is a tease.

A very simple yet very open Ataris album, this CD really expresses what the about Kris Roe's life and granted songs are simple and plan. However they do sound a lot like old green day songs in fact I think one of the songs is chord for chord a green day song and kind of makes fun of it. However I don't care that much not a Green day fan later on the ataris became more known for figurative lyrics this CD just puts everything out their. A good cd!

This c.d. hosts some of the tightest tracks I've ever heard! They have killer lyrics, and a great sound. Every single song here is worth while, a c.d. you can play the whole way through without getting bored! I recommend it to anyone who loves fabulous music!

The Ataris premire CD anywhere but here... is good. But Blue Skies, Broken Hearts... Next 12 Exits is much more pleasing. maybe their addition of a fourth member added to the music. but still very good with a few tracks that get annoying after being played too many times.

Like Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits, ...Anywhere But Here has a pure punk soul and the lyrics pure punk as well. ...Anywhere But Here is an awesome punk cd (along with the rest of The Ataris cd's) and it would make a rad addition to your punk cd collection.
