About the authors
Gina Welborn loves watching The Goldbergs, playing Super Mario Bros with her middle child, and baking anything sweet and tasty in desperation not to hear her children say, "Chef Mom, you've been chopped!"
Years ago, Gina worked at a news radio station scripting copy until she realized how depressing human tragedy was. Thus she fell in love with writing romances and now only thinks "It is time for a dead body?" when she's at a lull in her newest manuscript. (Disclaimer: Dead bodies are usually not found in Gina's writing.) Gina is a 2009 ACFW GENESIS historical romance finalist and a 2007 RWA GOLDEN HEART® inspirational finalist. She writes lighthearted historicals featuring spunky heroines and wild-at-heart heroes.
For eleven years, this Oklahoma-raised girl lived in Virginia with her youth-pastor husband and their five Okie-Hokie children before they headed back to Oklahoma. Gina is a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum and a founding member of Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club. She currently serves on the American Christian Fiction Writers Foundation Board. She is a member of ACFW and RWA. Three of her Barbour anthologies -- Mistletoe Memories, Lassoed by Marriage Romance Collection, and Blue Ribbon Brides -- are ECPA bestsellers. Colette and Jacob are two young people with the common trait of being a bit impulsive. They are given the chance to escort three young ladies on this secret and risky last step of the journey. Collette is a generous girl from a wealthy family whose heart is in the right place, but her choices aren't always for the best. Her parents feel this trip will help her to look at life from a different perspective. And it does. Not everything goes as planned on this journey. Jacob goes along on the trip to protect the girls. Both he and Collette learn more about themselves on the trip than they expected, getting close to one another quickly. They make a good team. Interesting twists and turns in this journey keep you turning the pages.

Colette Vanderpool-Vane is a daughter of a wealthy family. She is also impulsive and rarely finishes what she starts. In an effort to get Colette to grow up, they involve her in a secret mission that the family is involved in. It would make Colette commit to something and see it through. Colette agrees to go. She follows directions to a tee in the beginning.
Jakob Gunderson is a man who is searching. He has not had much success at love. He agrees to go on a secret mission and it surprised when he meets Colette. He is intrigued by her and is immediately drawn to her. She is unlike anyone he has met before. Soon both Colette and Jakob are feeling attracted to one another. As they keep their eyes on their mission, things go wrong when Colette decides to deviate from the directions she has been given. But in all she does, Colette's kind and giving spirit is obvious. The deviation met a need that an orphanage had. Jakob is drawn to her kindness and is able to handle her impulsiveness. When the mission is over, Jakob proposes to Colette. She accepts except she has a secret that she asks Jakob to help her with. Can their love for one another get them through this challenge? Welborn does a great job of tying it all together and gives the reader a very satisfying ending.
I read this book and voluntarily offer my feedback.
Colette and Jacob were brought together to escort some young ladies on this trip and keep them safe. Not too lucky in love, Jacob found her to be very compassionate and the two worked well together.
But Colette was really hiding her identity as a heiress and could these two find happiness?
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by this author! I read this through NetGallery
The first thing that drew me in was the cover and then I read the discription and was very excited.
However, this story did not live up to it's potential. Which I am sad about, I really excpected more. There were places that felt like there were missing pages, emotions that didn't really seem to fit the situation. Also usually you see a gradual growing of the characters thoughout the book amd that was not the case here. The main character was just as immature as when the story began.
Overal the storylime could be great but it definitely missed the mark in my book.
I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feed back. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
Back with us is Jakob our very unlucky in the romance department young fellow, and we meet a wealthy young woman with a lot of compassion for her fellow man and for animals, Colette.
We are given a glimpse into life back in early America and the Montana Territory, and watch these two try and help these young woman, will they succeed?
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

Jakob Gunderson has been unlucky in love and his mail-order bride married his brother Isaak. He’s hired to protect a group of young women rescued from the streets of Helena and his job is to make sure they arrive safely at the female academy in Kansas.
He’s stunned when he meets the girls chaperone, the women of his dreams and he’s doesn’t want to the train trip to end. Jakob and Colette are using false names, her real name isn’t the only thing Jakob doesn’t know about the woman he’s fallen in love with and will he have his heart broken again?
The fifth book in the Montana Bride Romance Series, a sweet western romance, I liked the use of quotes by Jane Austen at the start of each chapter, and three stars from me.
