Disabled & wheelchair-bound, and still shower unassisted, but at risk of slipping to floor. Got this to wear when phone is inaccessible (like in shower). Had to use it the first time the other day when water pressure dropped while in shower, in order to get helper to shut off the washing machine that was running. It isn’t especially easy to blow, compared to pea whistles. It really needs a full blow and basically only works at one volume—loud. I keep it on my keychain for emergencies, but I mainly use it to call my dog when she gets too far away on the beach.
The whistle itself is sturdier than a plastic one, especially when kept on a keychain. The links which held the whistle to the split ring both came apart after a few days of use. It happened inside my house, but this could have easily happened somewhere else and the whistle would have been lost.
I rate the whistle itself as a 5/5 and the product as a whole as a 4/5. I’m satisfied with two whistles for this price, even if the hardware is lacking.
It's been awhile since hubs and I have been able to hike. In fact, now, at 89, he falls frequently, and I don't hear all that well. So... I got this whistle so he can let me know if he falls.
