best of all they honored their delivery commit THANKS
I've just getting into doing SMD work and this station has allowed me to correct quite a few mistakes so far. Of course if your new to this, I recommend going to a local computer repair shop and asking them for a dead motherboard so you can practice on it. As a plus, you'll score a bunch of useful parts when your done!
I've found the unit itself is fast heating. I had read other reviews that said they had problems getting much airflow or heat from the unit. There is a screw that is VERY WELL MARKED that must be removed prior to use. I have had no problems at all with the screw removed.
I hope you enjoy your unit and good luck!
I have used several tips so far on chips down to .5mm pitch. The heat is consistent, and the handle is comfortable to use.
I have not used the suction part yet. I usually use tweezers to pick up the chips.
There are several video reviews on the internet - check them out.
The heating element appears to vibrate against the housing when its in the holder. This can be mitigated by rotating the gun while its in the holder. Might mark the "up" spot. But after I found it, it got very quite.
ALSO BE VERY CAREFL, the red button on the front of the device should be out when you power it up. It can easily, and at no fault of design, be pushed in during shipping. This will make the gun "live" when you turn on the main.
In vacuum pick up mode (heat is off) , there is no control over air flow. It switched to max flow. For small ICs this means the pickup tool will not drop them as the air pressure with the "drop hole" uncovered is too high.
It absolutely does the job though.

Pros :-
- Much better than the cheaper options if you have the budget
- Much more robust as the air/vaccum pump are in the base unit and not the hand held portion
- Can get the job done when you know how to use it and know exactly what you're doing
- The nozzle options and accessories are also better than many other options in similar price range.
Cons :-
- a bit of learning curve for the controls as there are only 2 very limited sets of 7-segment display LEDs
- no memory/save option so setup's needed every startup
- probably a bit noisy for beginners --- then again if you're not going to use it regularly like a professional who're used to much bigger, better, industrial setups then this cost-weight-space may not be justified for you.
