This unit works great, and comes with a nice selection of nozzles. It is really convienient to have the vacuum pick up tool built in. The automated cool-down and shut off are a good safety feature. It's a very good value in an SMT work station.

Received product quickly, just got around to trying it yesterday, DOA, no air flow. I removed the screw as instructed, nothing. I reached out to the US Supplier and they were responsive, but did not offer a good solution yet. I purchased another unit, different model, because I need this to complete a project. I am hoping that one will work out. I am also hoping I get a replacement or refund on this product. I am beyond the return window for Amazon, or this thing would be going back.

Ok so there is a debate lately on hot air stations. You have Hakko at $800 and Quick DW at $270, then there is this little diamond in the rough at $130.00. The Aoyue 852A has been demonstrated online to stand up from a performance perspective to both of the previous mentioned hot air stations. If you are just starting off in micro soldering this station will do everything the others will do at a fraction of the price. I had the choice between this guy and the Quick, I have been doing board repair for about 2 years. I chose this unit for one reason same performance for way less cost, simple business decision. Ok so I sung the praises now for the down side. The suction tool is useless, just remove it. The unit uses a pump pulling air from the suction tool assembly so when I removed mine I actually got more accurate heat and flow readings. The build quality is clunky and the C on the digital display turns to an L every once in a while. It is loud and will rattle when cooling down if you do not have it level or have any loose components on top of it. Once last thing there is a little button on the handle holder that will cool the unit down when it is idle for a certain period of time. Do not depend on this button, you have to have the handle perfectly in the cradle for it to work. I have already upgrade mine to work as it should by pulling the button and adding a slide switch. Gave it 4 stars just because of poor build quality, the performance is awesome!

Been using this for a month now and I have been very happy with this station!

I've just getting into doing SMD work and this station has allowed me to correct quite a few mistakes so far. Of course if your new to this, I recommend going to a local computer repair shop and asking them for a dead motherboard so you can practice on it. As a plus, you'll score a bunch of useful parts when your done!

I've found the unit itself is fast heating. I had read other reviews that said they had problems getting much airflow or heat from the unit. There is a screw that is VERY WELL MARKED that must be removed prior to use. I have had no problems at all with the screw removed.

I hope you enjoy your unit and good luck!

This is a solid hot air rework station.

I have used several tips so far on chips down to .5mm pitch. The heat is consistent, and the handle is comfortable to use.

I have not used the suction part yet. I usually use tweezers to pick up the chips.

There are several video reviews on the internet - check them out.

Got it. Didn't have to open the box because it fell apart. It was not glued together properly. The square SMD nozzle shown in the listing's photos is NOT there (and it shouldn't be), but the person who listed this product chose to put an incorrect photo up.

The heating element appears to vibrate against the housing when its in the holder. This can be mitigated by rotating the gun while its in the holder. Might mark the "up" spot. But after I found it, it got very quite.

ALSO BE VERY CAREFL, the red button on the front of the device should be out when you power it up. It can easily, and at no fault of design, be pushed in during shipping. This will make the gun "live" when you turn on the main.

In vacuum pick up mode (heat is off) , there is no control over air flow. It switched to max flow. For small ICs this means the pickup tool will not drop them as the air pressure with the "drop hole" uncovered is too high.

It absolutely does the job though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yup, it blows hot air, decent tool

I'm using mine for hobby applications as a precise heat gun alternative, obviously this implies infrequent use. So far is does what it says on the box, it blows hot air at various temperatures and/or pressures. It heats up incredibly fast. Internally it seems like it's built well, says CE rated and ESD Safe on the appliance; however, I cannot verify if it is or not (nor do I care unless I get electrocuted). I was surprised on the size of the unit, I though from the pictures it would be a lot smaller. Kinda wish you could start the fan without any heating to allow extra cooling time after turning off the unit, or that the wand hose was a little longer with maybe a detachable hose feature to make it easier to store. The vacuum hose is gimmicky.. I disconnected mine and left it in the shipping box.

Super easy to use, much better than using my old iron for smd work, can't believe I didn't purchase this sooner. Temperature reaches 300 degrees within 20 seconds or so, fast to cool down as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overall. Great budget smd hot air worstation
Reviewed in Canada on April 24, 2022

Its a great entry level smd hot air worstation.
Pros :-
- Much better than the cheaper options if you have the budget
- Much more robust as the air/vaccum pump are in the base unit and not the hand held portion
- Can get the job done when you know how to use it and know exactly what you're doing
- The nozzle options and accessories are also better than many other options in similar price range.
Cons :-
- a bit of learning curve for the controls as there are only 2 very limited sets of 7-segment display LEDs
- no memory/save option so setup's needed every startup
- probably a bit noisy for beginners --- then again if you're not going to use it regularly like a professional who're used to much bigger, better, industrial setups then this cost-weight-space may not be justified for you.
