And so logically if you want to have more than one hdd breathing freely (e.g. raid), you'd better have external CD/DVD to have your hdds in both 5.25 spots.
The intake ventilation hole for the PSU is on the left top (when placed horizontally), and the outlet is on the front panel, so if you plan to have the front panel facing you you'll feel warm breeze (which is good if you live close to the north pole).
Other than that, taking into account the price for the horizontally placed case (they call it HTPC) the case is very good.
All my hardware just barely fits. I had trouble fitting an EVGA GTX 570 in the case with the PSU; I had to find another that fit. Air flow is a serious problem.
And the LED in the front is insanely bright. It literally keeps me up at night. I had to put tape over it.
Both of my systems use a Quad Core Intel CPU and ATX motherboards, one a Gigabyte and the other an ASUS. The 4-pin problem can be solved with an adapter on New Egg specfically for Apevia, but for some reason BOTH of my cases came with the newer 24-pin connectors. I'm mentioning this because I think maybe Apevia has changed this connector recently. And Apevia's connector's are all nice and bound so they're easy to connect to the proper places. And if the wires are run properly, everything looks nice and neat inside (a friend built one of mine and he did better with this than the people who charged me for it; he ran most wires UNDER the motherboard, which is fantastic looking).
The 3.5" external slot is hard to get to once you have the two 5.25" drives in. I am using two DVD drives (one Blu-Ray/HD-DVD and one DVD-RW) and a card reader in the 3.5". As the other reviewer states, this means only one spot left for a hard drive. Mine are 1TB, but if you want RAID you simply can't use a card reader in that 3.5" spot.
The blue fans on the back look great as well. and the case fit and finish on both of mine were perfect. I did however receive one case with a dent on top (from the computer store), but I don't know if the computer people did this or it came like that. I do know it's a little sensitive to dents. I was able to easily bang most of the dent out, but it isn't perfect obviously. It is possible, I think, for this to have been made by an elbow leaning on the case.Read more ›

First of all, this isn't really a HTPC case. It's more of standard case in horizontal configuration, just slightly narrower than full size mid-tower. But wait, there's more. Read morePublished 15 days ago by JM
