A pretty far fetched movie with brilliant moments, but the extra scenes in the redux went too far. Platoon and even Assault on Firebase Gloria were far closer to real in my experience. I turned this off after I remembered how much I didn't like it the first time I saw it years ago. I'll stick with the original release.

I've seen this movie on the big screen, and the Amazon version seems to be edited. Especially the very end, which was cut out completely! Shame on who ever cut this excellent film for Amazon.

This film is so not like my personal Viet Nam experience. Too much drug reference. Too much put down of the average soldier as irresponsible killers of innocent people. Maybe it did happen this way for some, but certainly not most.

The problem with surreal movies is the script writers get carried away with technique rather than substance. This is, of course, another excellent anti-war movie which all of them are. It would have helped if there was just a little bit of reality in the movie. Lots of noise but not much else to commend it. If they want to create a horror movie, try a theme other than war. Everyone knows war is a horrible hell! Overrated in my opinion.

I saw this movie years ago and didn't care for it. Thought I'd try it again maybe 20 years later to give it another chance. Still don't like it. A few good scenes and lines but overall not worth the time.

The cow scene was a bit much, and yes I looked it up, it was a real cow. As for the rest of the movie, it was..... Just ok. I won't watch it again.
