I read this knowing that it was a short story. I usually don't buy short stories (or even novellas) for Kindle, but since I like Mira Grant, I decided to buy it.

While well-written and interesting, this felt more like a prologue than a short story. It's very, very short.

While I enjoyed it, I felt a bit unsatisfied in the end. However, I felt really hopeful that a full-length book based on this story might be coming. (Hint! Hint!)

Fabulos Story, Dreadful Price

A great take on the popular topic, a "Masque of the Red Death" where a friend wears the mask. A great read, this exemplifies why short fiction is often the best fiction. Setup, climax and conclusion come in rapid, but clear, and characters are sketched in just enough to give the imagination a hook, and the story what it needs. Ending is punchy and not overdone, but a fabulous full stop on a great sentence.
The only issue I take is with pricing, but I suppose if people like myself keep paying it, it will keep rising. So, on this point I've noone to blame but myself.

A deliciously unconventional apocalypse.

I have to admit, the first time I opened this file on my kindle I closed it and went in search of something else. It's not any fault but the author's - I had just finished the first Newsflesh novel and was waiting for the 2nd to download. It did, I went and devoured it gratefully, and then because the third novel had/has yet to be released, I came back to this enticing little novella. The scenario is surprisingly complex for such a short piece, one that I'm sure I would love to see fleshed out.

Some friends play Monopoly, others play cards, these plot various apocalypses. Sort of right up my alley, I have every intention of stealing this game for my next party. I enjoyed the character development and the plot itself, which I found to be a surprise since this was such a short piece. Length notwithstanding, AS #683 was a fantastic read that will leave you wanting more.

Kind of upset that this wasn't longer. A full story based off of this would be amazing! In the same vain as Feed, this short story will definitely leave you wanting more!

Five friends get together to set up different ways that the world will end. But one day something weird happens and they are forced to make a decision...

It's not a secret I love Mira Grant so I decided to pick up her short story to help tide me over until next summer when her next novel will be released.

Apocalypse Scenario #683: The Box surrounds a group of friends that meet once a week and try and top each other with ridiculous apocalypse scenarios. It's a ridiculous game, I thought I had weird friends. The game is suppose to be a fun time among friends but this week the story is different and it appears to mirror reality a little too closely.

I did love the ending for the story, but I think I need to stay away from stories that are really this short. I like plot and character developments and all short stories do (no matter how great) is leave me unsatisfied and wanting more.

This is just a few pages. It's a good read, but at $2 overpriced. It'll take you just a few minutes to read. This should be free. If you read all the reviews on Amazon, you already know 95% of the story.

Feed (The Newsflesh Trilogy), the sequels and the NewsFlesh novella's are great. Start with Feed instead (priced at $3 right now). If you have read those, don't bother with #683.

Good story, but misleading.

It's a good enough short story but has nothing to do with the Newsflesh series. In fact depending on how you interpret the ending, it even conflict the Newsflesh series. So I feel that it is misleading to cal this part of the same series. But, as I said it is a good story. Not worth $2 though.

Entirely too short

I enjoyed it, but there needs to be more. Like, this seems like it would make for a nice interstitial in a much longer story that took place in the aftermath of the scenario.
