Undead World Trilogy is in my top 5 all time best zombie apocalypse stories

This review is on the entire Undead World trilogy. So anyone reading this knows my rating system I consider 5 star zombie apocalpyse fiction things like Max Brooks World War Z, The Walking Dead (the comics and TV show, not those cash grab novels on The Governor), Area 187: Almost Hell by Eric Lowther, Final Night by Johnathan Mayberry, and the first few books of Joe McKinney's Dead World series. That's my bar for 5 star ZA fiction. Also just to be clear I like the Romero type zombies. To me zombies who talk, use guns and tools, or do quadratic equations aren't actually zombies. I'm good with running zombies so long as there is a plausible explanation like in ZA Rechts trilogy.

The Undead World Trilogy meets and sometimes excees that bar. I stumbled on the story by accident. I read tons of ZA fiction and at the time I was waiting for a few other authors to finish up their story arcs and I have to tell you this was an awesome surprise.

The trilogy starts out pretty standard as far as ZA stories go. But like all great zombie fiction a few chapters into the story it becomes about the characters and not the ZA at all. The undead are window dressing for character development. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so I'll be as vague as possible here. This story has characters in it who aren't super-human rambo type zombie hunters. They can and do make mistakes. Some of them pay for their compassion and good will very dearly in the end. If you read this I will warn you, characters you grow to love will die.... characters you could happily kill yourselves will live. This story reflects reality in that we lose people we care about and the good guy doesn't always win. That's as specific as I can be without robbing you of taking the journey for yourself.

One thing I will be very specific about though is a character called Jillybean. She may be the single best character I have ever read in any zombie apocalypse fiction. Unfortunately you don't meet her until the second novel in the trilogy (don't jump ahead though, you need to read the novels in order not to be lost) but I promise it will be well worth the wait. Hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.

I understand there is a fourth installment coming out in October 2014. If the writer keeps up with his current level of quality I'll happily read his Undead World stories until the real ZA comes!!!

The Apocalypse: The Undead World Novel 1 (Volume 1) Note this is not a review by Joe G Kushner, but rather notes from his voracious reader mother, Charlotte Kay Hornsby.

Zombies and the apocalypse genre are done. They have been done. Others will continue to do them.

For me, this book handles it from a different angle by going the route of the military. In any novel, good characters and good characterization will go a long way in making an enjoyable story. In that Peter Meredith has done a fantastic job of bringing the reader characters that make sense in their situation and act in ways that are sadly believable given what we know of how people tend to act when society breaks down.

The book ends in a manner that if there weren't another book, it would be a solid ending. It also ends open enough that the fact there is a sequel, a whole slew of sequels, attest to the far ranged plans of the author.

If you enjoy the Walking Dead and other series but want to see it from a different standard, The Apocalypse is a real jolt into the genre.

The Biopreparat facility housed the world’s supply of vials of: Anthrax, Ebola, Marburg Virus, Plague, Q fever, Junin Virus, Glanders, & Smallpox.

The North Koreans Yuri’s customer only wanted 1 of them.
$500 million rubles was his take.
Washington, DC. Situation room. Eric Reidy (MS; micro-biology) was going to give a presentation on the virus that is eradicating the world.
Those present are: President, VP, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Secretary of etc., the Secretary of H&HHS, the Director of the CDC, & Dr. Thomas Villar (double PhD).
General Chaky will be in charge of enforcing the quarantine.
Zombies those with the virus were everywhere.
Dade County FL., PFC Marshall Peters, Murphy & the rest of the US Army 82nd Airborne, 5th Mash 86-91 were trying to corral the zombies.

The President also called up the Army Reserve & the National Guard.
Was Neil falling for Sarah?
The CDC (Atlanta, GA.) was trying to do their part.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written paranormal book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a large set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great paranormal movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. Not my normal read, & it was just OK for me; but I’m still going to rate it at 5 stars.

I downloaded this book a while ago and I'm currently reading it. While I can say that it keeps me very interested and I can't seem to stop reading it, it is however riddled with typos. I do expect a little more spell checking and accuracy when it comes to reading something written by an author who's not on his first novel. At one point he even changes a character's hair color from red to blond and then back to red. If the book wasn't so entertaining I would have quit reading it long ago. There really needs to be someone better on top of all this because, these typos are very obvious and really bring down the quality of the book and the talent of the author. If you can't handle typos and misstakes then you would be wise to stay away from the downloadable copy.
