While I have the Apochcryha in my 1611 KJV, I like being able to research and look at the deeper meanings and nuances of Scripture. I really love all of the translations by R. H. Charles as a Biblical translator and scholar; he was fluent in ancient and modern Hebrew and Greek. Most importantly he did not add or subtract or try to sway the reader with any of his personal beliefs he translated and let the work speak for itself.

Learned my lesson - never buy a book that does not have a "look inside" feature. If I had known how small the print was, how poorly laid out this book is and the fact that you need to constantly refer to a full page of hundreds of abbreviations to understand what is being referenced/said, I would have never bought this. As it is, I am returning this book - and that really says it all because I am not one to return books, I am a book collector, but this one is simply terrible in all ways. You might like it if you are a professional biblical researcher, but even then I doubt it - so very hard to read in all ways.

I bought the NT Apocrypha maybe 9 months ago or so and found it very complete and adequate. My first work with it was concerning the infancy legends of Jesus. I planned to buy the 2 OT vols. and have a whole set. Well, today I recieved the OT vols. and WOW! Impressive appartaus notes with lexiographical and source-crit info. Now I wish my NT one was like the OT ones. The OT books are much larger, basically twice the size. So they won't really look like they are a set on the shelf, but no matter. These are affordable and complete and help unravel some of the inspirations for historical and even modern day pseudo-Christian cults. Looking forward to some work comparitive creation-epics, and filling in some inter-testamental knowledge gaps to better understand the backdrop of Jesus' religious world.
