Obviously, since this is made by Apple, it is a gorgeous and well made product. It's very sturdy and does not move around at all on the desk while typing. It's got a nice angle to it to make typing, even for long periods, comfortable, and the low profile keys are a joy to type on and produce minimal clicking. Yes, it is missing a numeric keypad but that is not a deal breaker for me and I actually prefer the extra room on my desk that comes from this slimmer model.
Changing out the batteries, when it is time, is a super simple project and takes about a minute. You just unscrew the battery compartment cover with a coin, remove the old batteries, insert two new AA batteries, and screw the cover back on. Then you turn the keyboard back on and it reconnects immediately.
Overall, this is an excellent example of the quality and function we have come to expect from Apple and I highly, highly recommend it.
The keyboard itself is a beautiful, minimalist device, but nonetheless constitutes a full-sized keyboard, albeit without the numeric pad. Despite the fact that I am a power touch typist, I have never once used the numeric pad on any keyboard, so I appreciate the notion of giving up the numeric pad in exchange for having a smaller device on the desktop. Not everyone will agree, of course. Also missing are the delete key and the printscreen key. I admit that I miss the delete key, but the destructive backspace key is an adequate substitute.
The keyboard seems to be just the right size for my hands (I am not a big guy) and although it is not one of the curved "ergonomic" keyboards, I find myself quite comfortable typing continuously with this keyboard. The keys themselves have a nice solid feel; most typists will like the feel of these keys.
I like the fact that this keyboard uses readily-available AA batteries. It shuts off when not in use, and springs to life instantly upon the touch of a key. Very good design.
Highly recommended for anyone who does not mind eschewing the numeric keypad, the delete key and printscreen. RJB.
It's so funny how things change so quickly in the business world. It wasn't that long ago that I would be in a meeting and everyone was on their Palm Pilots, making notes and checking their calenders. Then we went through the laptop phase (everyone hiding behind their screens, probably playing solitaire.) Now it seems that every meeting I go to has as many iPads attending as people. That's when I most often use my wireless keyboard as it helps when I am taking notes. I also like to use it on the plane as it's pretty hard to type on a laptop when you are flying in coach, but the iPad fits like a charm and the keyboard makes typing long notes easier. I carry it in a Maroo keyboard cover (which also looks sharp) and just stick it in my briefcase. I am very happy with this product.
The power button is on the upper right (big round button, look at side view). Press it for a few seconds until the tiny LED (next to Eject button) turns on momentarily. The battery compartment is on the upper left and has a slot in the cap, use a coin to turn it if it's more than thumb-tight. It's super-easy to connect via Bluetooth and took about 10 seconds to do the setup on my iMac. If it doesn't find the keyboard automatically go to Preferences > Keyboard and choose Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard to do the Bluetooth pairing.
