Top Customer Reviews
I am 50 and everything I imagined and more has come to pass, and I LOVE my nano, because it not only entertains me with all my personal favorites from TV shows to audiobooks, but it represents a very eloquent "I told you so" that satisfies my "know-it-all geek girl persona" from my childhood days.
After reading many many reviews on the newest iPods, the 4th Gen Nanos - they really got mostly bad reviews. Plus I work with someone who bought one (she loved the purple) and had trouble with it the first week she had it - something about the stupid "Shake to Shuffle" - it was not consistent, either the slightest stir changed the song on her, or else she had to shake it really hard to change song. She really didn't want to take it back basically because she loved the Purple color! But on my convincing her that my 3rd Gen Nano was the best way to go, she took my advice - took it back to where she bought it, and came on Amazon to buy a Pink 3G nano (the store did not sell 3G's anymore!) Shame, since the 3 G's are far superior to the new 4th Gen ones.
Go with this product - you will be so happy you did (or wait until Apple comes out with a 5G!)
I have seen quite a few other MP3 players (my brother owns a Zen Micro), but none seem to match up to the iPod. I think what impresses me most are the extras: calendar, contacts, games, alarm, stopwatch, etc. The only difficult thing is picking the color!
I definitely recommend going with the 8 GB model - might as well, considering the price difference. You may also want to consider an alternate pair of earbuds or headphones. As others have noted, the pair that come with the iPod might not fit very well. This is one area where Apple really needs to look at design/functionality with something that comes in the box.
Other than that, if you're concerned about potential damage/scratches, I would order a sleeve at the same time, and put it on right away.
