Update - after investigating teardown pictures of this device on macrumors.com and slashgear.com, it is clear this was a knock off product, not of Apple origin, a call to Amazon got me credit for the product and I ordered and Apple (hopefully) .6 meter (way to short) corded adapter. Amazon hit the ball out of the park IMHO on this one.
Lesson learned DO NOT TRUST THIS SELLER!
