These are great keyboards. I have used this one since 2008 and it is still working. Just keep water and other liquids out of it and you will be fine. I use rechargeable AA batteries in mine. You will see a warning notification on your device when the batteries need replaced or charged.

Used but not abused!

I just received my apple wireless keyboard, and as I'm typing away.... there's not much difference from the original keyboard installed on my white macbook. I wanted a wireless keyboard to connect to my mac and any future devices I might purchase soon. I stream movies from my laptop to my TV all the time, it was about time I invested in a wireless keyboard that I could have at arms length. I needed a keyboard that had a functional escape key, since I was pairing it with my mac and not a ipad. All the shortcuts are working fine. I was worried that by buying this product used it would be in "not so descent" condition; but its great and the price makes it even better!! NO chipped keys, I still wiped it clean with antibacterial but that was for my own safety. :) Didn't come with all the paper work/ manuel that I expected and batteries were not included so I had to google "how to install battery on apple wireless keyboard." Once powered on, keyboard connected easy. The keys are just as light as my macbook and only time will tell about the battery life. Very pleased with my purchase. Response time is excellent and I can now type away from anywhere in the room.

Best keyboard I've owned

I've searched for a long time to find a good keyboard. I've purchased expensive keyboards from IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Logitech, as well as some lesser-known brands. Usually they've been USB since I've been a little skeptical of bluetooth. Always I've managed to get by with what I purchased, but I've never found the right combination of features and ergonomics.

The new Apple Bluetooth Keyboard is by far the best keyboard I've owned. After using one for several months, I've purchased a second to use at the office.

1) The ergonomics are great. It has a very low profile for a straighter wrist angle. The lack of a numeric keypad, while a small liability, actually increases the ergonomics of the keyboard by making it easier and more natural to center the keyboard in front of you. As a software developer I find that I don't miss the keypad much, although your mileage may vary. And while nearly all of my previous keyboards have been split keyboards for ergonomic reasons, I've found that I haven't missed the split at all on this keyboard.

2) The bluetooth connection is very reliable. Just make sure you update your keyboards firmware via Apple Updates. The older firmware revision suffered from the occasional duplicate stroke.

3) Media keys are important to me, and these are well thought-out and consistent with those on the Macbook (and presumably Macbook Pro). They make reaching for the right key natural regardless of whether you're using the bluetooth or laptop keyboard.

4) Cleaning is ridiculously easy. Just wipe it down with a sanitary wipe after you push the power button. It's amazing how dirty the other kids' keyboards look around the office. No matter how hard you try, you just can't ever get the crud out of those things.

Overall, I can't think of anything negative to say about the thing. It looks good, feels natural, works great, and is super easy to clean. Oh, and regular or rechargeable batteries seem to last for several months with extensive use. Nice one, Apple.

Great Keyboard but some draw backs

This is a great keyboard and I have to say that it has recieved its fair share of use. I bought it to pair with my MacBook pro because the edge on it is somewhat pointed and uncomfortable (I have to deal with it all day being class for Law School). It does what it is supposed to and has had no problems (used now for 2 months):

Pros:
-Great battery life (as of the typing of this, the keyboard is at 75% life after two months of use at about 8 hours a day)
-Looks great
-Connection is great (Note should be made that it is used on a MacBook Pro so I have yet to use it on my Windows PC bluetooth)
-Set up was easy (again it is on a Apple so the pairing is very simple with nothing to download)
-Very Responsive (very little lag except when it is used after some time off, but expected b/c it will shut off to conserve power)

Cons:
-The low profile is somewhat difficult to get use to (the space bar is nearly level with the surface you are typing on)
-White Keys begin to show dirt very easily (can be cleaned using water or rubbing alcohol)

Final note that I must say is that there are a lot gripes online due to the lack of the number pad, which is true but one knows that from the start from the picture. If you are buying this for strictly typing purposes, that is what it is for (minimalist), if you need a key pad or have difficulty typing on a low profile, then look for another bluetooth keyboard.

How I use this keyboard with Vista

This is a great keyboard. The small size and key layout are identical to my macbook, which I like. The main reason I got this keyboard was for the relative silence it provides while typing. I write software from home for a living, and I had a clackety-clack logitech keyboard that irritated everybody through the day and, most especially, through the night. After much research I settled on this keyboard. I'm not disappointed.

For windows users, this keyboard works fine on Vista. I plugged in a bluetooth dongle, turned on the keyboard, and added it as a bluetooth device, no problems. The keyboard is missing a lot of standard functionality, like page up/down, home/end, delete, ctrl+alt+delete, etc... But you can find third-party tools to help. The one I use is AutoHotkeys. Here's the blog post that got me started: [...] I have a script run when the computer starts.

One other note: you'll need to keep a wired keyboard around if you ever need to get into BIOS. It seems the bluetooth connection doesn't kick in until the operating system boots up. For this reason, if I had to do it again, I think I'd get the wired version so I could skip all this bluetooth nonsense. But as far as the wireless goes, it works great!
