5.0 out of 5 stars Decided to upgrade from my MacBook Pro... Very glad I chose this!
By Kimberly on December 12, 2019
This laptop was heavily discounted on cyber Monday and I scooped it up without thinking twice. I’m so glad I did (A brand new, 2019 Macbook was almost 300 dollars cheaper here than from Apple, thanks Amazon!) I have owned lots of Apple products and this laptop is my newest addition. As a MacBook Pro user previously, I was afraid I would miss all of the ports, SD card slot, etc. The thunderbolt ports on this help keep it thin and very lightweight, and it SO easy to hold without sacrificing screen size. I travel next week for the holidays and I’m sure my back will thank me for not lugging around a heavy laptop anymore.

Let’s talk about features. Coming from a 10 year old MacBook Pro that I also really loved, I am enjoying the new butterfly keyboard as well as the retina screen. The display is beautiful and makes watching videos or even just browsing a wonderful experience. I would imagine photo editing or video editing is also improved although I rarely do those things. I had a MagSafe charger on my old Mac that I loved and while I admit I do kind of miss that, I understand that to keep the profile thin, Apple had to go with a smaller USB-C charging port. The Touch ID is also a nice feature, and it is fast. I can also unlock my Mac with my Apple Watch which saves even more time. Not necessary, but definitely a convenient feature. I also appreciate the color choices; I went for gold to match my phone and watch and all of them are just beautiful. I enjoy that it stands out from the traditional black or silver laptops you see everywhere else.

Battery life is awesome. I’m getting 12 hours on one charge with heavy use. The computer is fast and responsive, and really just a huge upgrade from what I was using. This makes my old MacBook Pro feel like a dinosaur :)

Overall, I feel that at Amazon’s price point I got an excellent deal on this laptop. It is perfect for my needs and would be great for a student, someone who travels often, etc. I would recommend if the lack of ports really bother you, there are several dongles here on Amazon for ~$10-$15 that have all the ports you need. I would much rather do that than carry around a heavy laptop 24/7, but I know that is a personal preference.

Would I buy this laptop full price from Apple? Probably not, which is why I stuck with my old laptop for the last 10 years. But if you can catch a good deal here, this device is well worth the price and a wonderful upgrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are looking for a light duty in Apple quality, you want the MacBook Air
    By Fatih S. on December 10, 2019
Coming from a 2013 Macbook Air, this was a huge upgrade for me and I love everything about the 2019 MacBook Air.

    Screen:
Upgrading from the 2013 version of the same Macbook Air, retina screen is well worth alone. Screen is so colorful, crisp and sharp that I would never go back to non retina display ever again. Watching YouTube or Netflix is pure joy on this screen.

    Battery:
So far, it's great. I have not measured but I will say it's at least 10 hours or more for daily use such as browsing, listening to the music and so on.

    Keyboard:
Keyboard is different. I neither liked nor disliked it. I just need to adjust to it but I have no problem so far. I am able to type easily.

    Weight:
It's light and easy to hold and I just love how smaller this is compared to my 2013 Macbook air in size. This is the perfect sized computer for me with the full 13 inch screen as well as a full size keyboard.

    Cooling & Fan Noise:
I've been using it for weeks and I have not heard the fan running once. Either it's extremely quite or it does not run at all for my daily usage which I am sure majority of people do on their Macbook Air. (Hint: Do not use Chrome browser. Use preferably Safari or Firefox as a last chance)

    Ports:
It's missing some of the ports that I used to have on my 2013 Macbook Air but I just bought a dongle that has multiple USB 3's, ethernet, SD card and HDMI slots. Funny thing is I have not used it yet in few weeks. I guess maybe I have not needed the ports that much before!

That's all from my side. I love it and I am happy that I was able to buy it at the discounted price at Black Friday. Even if it was at full price, I would not hesitate to buy it again.

I do not edit video neither any photo.
I just watch YouTube, Netflix, browse Reddit and use terminal time to time. For these, this is the perfect computer as more battery life over performance is what I needed the most and 2019 Macbook Air fully satisfies that.
