This player has served me very well. It plays about 12 hours worth of music, with most of my tunes at 192 VBR. The playback is stable, playing steadily through my hour long runs or 8 hour shifts at work with no weird chirps or skips. It is an extremely easy to operate device, with the controls clearly marked. The music comes through my headphones with more than adequate volume and I can turn it up more if needed.
On the other hand, when I first tried to sync it with my iTunes Shuffle playlist, something happened and the device froze up. I tried to force quit iTunes to no avail. After disconnecting and getting the red No-no about "a device having been improperly removed", the Shuffle's icon wouldn't go away from my Finder side-bar. I ended up having to force my laptop to shut down (5 sec power button hold) because the automated shut down sequence wouldn't work. After restarting and reaching the desktop, the icon was gone from my Finder.
Aside from that one issue above, I've been really happy with this item. It IS simple, with no screen, no touch operated click wheel, no spinning hard drive to break down. I hope this means that it will remain stable and useful for many more years to come. This device does what it's supposed to, nothing more, and I am completely satisfied with that.
No feature to see which song its playing , no option to move to desired song ( just press next,next..in sequencial and in random u just have to listen whatever is plays), no drag drop facility have to use itunes, itunes tied to specific pc,just 1gb ,etc, etc and i can keep on listing.
The two star is given for its compact , sound quality and if you pause and switch off in middle and start again it resumes properly otherwise 1 star
I may suggest this for $5-10 not for $45...
This has to be the most durable and versatile iPod when it comes to kids. It's easy for them to use and it's metal. Of course there are also a few accessories that can be bought (like an acyllic or metal cover) for this, but I haven't seen any need to so far. The handy clip makes it perfect for just clipping it to clothes or a bag's strap.
Though the use of charging this model directly from your computer isn't always ideal when there are younger users since my 11 year old sister doesn't have a computer and has limited usage. Though, you can purchase an Apple USB Power Adapter for iPod/iPhone that can be used with this specific model's cable and platform for charging.
Though I don't personally have any of the larger iPod models, through using my friends', I have found that I do favor this one so far for it's durablility and ease of use.

It looks good and mostly works good. It did skip in one place, but my old one did too. It is a little harder to turn the switch on and off. Read morePublished 22 months ago by D. H.
