Hundreds of songs to go
Never leave a favorite tune behind. Along with up to 15 hours of battery life, iPod shuffle gives you 2 GB of storage capacity, good for hundreds of songs. That's plenty of room for the essential songs for your workout or commute. And for multiple playlists, Genius Mixes, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Goes anywhere. And with anything.
iPod shuffle isn't just portable. It's wearable, too. Clip it to your shirt, jacket, workout gear, backpack, or purse strap, and it stays put--whether you're running an errand or running around the track.
Controls. Right on the button.
Control your music with just a click
It's back--the big, clickable control pad on the front of iPod shuffle. It's 18 percent larger than on previous iPod shuffle models, so it's even easier to see and use the music controls. Press the center button to play and pause. Press the outer buttons to skip forward or back and adjust volume. Click, click, click. It's music to your fingers.
Play it your way
Maybe you're the spontaneous type. Or maybe you prefer a little order. Just flip the shuffle switch to suit your listening style. Flip it to the left, and you'll hear your music in a refreshingly random way. Flip it to the middle, and your songs play in order. Or flip to the right to turn iPod shuffle off.
VoiceOver. It tells you what you want to hear.
Give your songs a voice
Say you're listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist. Just press the new VoiceOver button on top of your iPod shuffle, and it tells you. You can even use VoiceOver to hear the names of playlists and switch between them. And if your battery needs charging, VoiceOver tells you that, too.
It speaks your language
A French love song. A Spanish bolero. An Italian cantata. Your music library has songs from all over the world. That's why VoiceOver speaks 25 different languages. So it can tell you song titles and artists in their native tongues or any language you choose.
Playlists. The perfect mix for every mood.
Sync to your heart's content
iTunes on your Mac or PC makes it easy to load up your iPod shuffle. Just choose the playlists, audiobooks, podcasts, and other audio files you want, then sync.
When one playlist isn't enough
You probably have multiple playlists in iTunes on your computer. One for your commute. One for the gym. One for just relaxing. Sync all those playlists to iPod shuffle, and you can play the perfect mix for whatever mood strikes you. VoiceOver tells you the name of each playlist, so it's easy to switch between them and find the one you want without looking.
Genius comes to iPod shuffle
There's another way to get a good mix of music on iPod shuffle: let Genius do the work. Activate Genius in iTunes on your computer, and it automatically finds songs that sound great together. Then it creates Genius Mixes, which you can easily sync to your iPod shuffle. It's the perfect way to rediscover songs you haven't listened to in, like, forever.
What's in the Box?
2 GB iPod shuffle (pink), Apple earphones, iPod shuffle USB cable (45 mm), quick start guide, and other important product information.

It's only as big as needed to allow your fingers to work it. It's very easy to understand and operate while NOT looking at it. It speaks the name of the song, artist, and battery charge status so there's no display to take up space, use up the battery, or to force you to look at it. The clip holds very securely and although it's small size makes it a little more difficult to use, IT"S SMALL and effective (isn't that the idea?)!. It feels and appears to be well made, including the switches which are crisp and sharp.
A larger memory would be nice along with a couple of preset equalizer modes, but not
at the cost of making it larger.
I've read several reviews about the poor earbuds but we use my own so it doesn't matter
9/4/2012 Still perfect! We haven't had a single problem, or complaint with either one of ours. Haven't used the ear buds that came with them but my sony buds sound just fine. We be smilin'.
12/30/2012 Both shuffles are still performing perfectly and the more we use them, the more we love them.
12/2/2013 Another year and they're both still working PERFECTLY! Now I'm using mine all night at work. I clip it to the back of my collar and
it's out of my way. Only need to charge it every third day.
11/05/2014 and another year and they're both still going strong.
05/08/2016 Almost another 2 years now and the wife and I both used them again yesterday. Surely one of my best investments of all time. Perfect.
7/22/2017 and they are both still playing happy tunes. I'm positive they'll outlast me.
I love that it's unobtrusive and you can clip it pretty much anywhere on your clothing, I usually clip it either to the top of my pants or my sports bra, depending on what kind of exercises I'm doing.
Since the features are pretty much covered by the other reviews, I'll talk about a couple issues that I have with this shuffle:
1. The button placement makes it impossible to clip/unclip while music is playing without switching songs. (This is why I actually preferred the design of the 2nd gen shuffle)
2. Sometimes I'll have the shuffle plugged into my computer, and iTunes will tell me that it's over 70% charged, but then when I actually get to the gym, it won't turn on! I'm not sure why this happens, and there have been a couple times when I thought it was a goner, but it always seems to work again after I charge it a second time.
I've seen a lot of reviews complaining about the earbuds...come on, people! Everyone knows that Apple earbuds are crap! Always buy Apple products knowing that you'll have to go buy headphones/earphones separately, and you'll be less disappointed.
This iPod has plenty of volume, plenty of storage space, and it's small enough to fit in my pocket. I clip it on my watch when I'm running and it stays there. So far, it has been unaffected by impact, sweat and other mistreatment.
If you're just wanting something that works reliably and gets the job done, get this product. If you need Beethoven-like quality, don't buy it. I highly recommend this product for busy people like me who don't need perfect audio quality.
- tiny little one, perfect to run with it
- nice sound (for the compact size)
- sturdy finishing feeling on hands
- you eventually will press the function buttons when pressing the clip to attach it on your clothes
- Apple factory phones insists to drop from your ears. You will need to replace it to a better one.
- Check your goals. This is a MP3 player and nothing more. So, for a MP3 player, it's a nice one. I recommend this product.
