Thee older models deserved five stars but this one has several annoyances. (Fortunately, I skipped the model with on-cord controls only.)
This latest version is smaller with a larger control button and now it is so easy to hit the control button and change the track when using the clip because there isn't enough room for a thumb or finger.
The new on-off switch with the integrated shuffle function makes it difficult to turn the shuffle on and off without putting it into shuffle mode rather than sequential mode unless you actually looking at the switch.
As far as improvements, the simplified charging/synching cable is much easier to use and transport than the old one with the little dock.
Of course, I could buy a different brand of MP3 player such as a Sansa Clip and get more storage for the same price but the reliability of these has been excellent and they are so tiny and lightweight that I think they are worth it.
To be fair, I used it for an average of 3 hours a day at my business. But after three weeks, it's almost completely useless. I plug it back into my computer, and it will NOT pop up on iTunes or even as a mass storage device. So I added songs once, and now I can't add any new songs.
In addition, it's very finicky with charging. It wouldn't charge in a wall outlet, and it sometimes quits charging half way through the charge. I left it plugged into my computer overnight once (computer on, screen on and did not turn off). It died in two minutes the next day. The only way I can charge it now is if I pay attention while it's plugged in, a yellow light stays on for about 3 minutes, then I have to unplug it and plug it back in so it will continue charging.
Great concept, but for some reason the charging and adding songs just quit working.
