Stay connected in style with the 38mm Apple Watch Series 2, which comes with a Space Gray anodized aluminum chassis and a black woven nylon band. Designed for users looking for the next generation of connectivity, Apple's Watch moves your iPhone's apps and functions to your wrist, so you can do more while leaving your phone in your pocket. Apple Watch connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth 4.0 and displays notifications, apps, and more on its 1.3" display. It can also connect directly to the Internet thanks to 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. The internal battery lasts for up to 18 hours of normal use and is recharged with an included inductive magnetic charger.

I could not be happier! I received it on the first day of the 1-8 day window, wherein it was wrapped in plastic with the box containing everything - including the plastic/sticky papers that you tear off before using the phone. It seemed like this came straight from Apple, unopened, which I very much appreciate. I was skeptical buying on Amazon instead of Apple because I've seen pictured reviews showing empty boxes on other Apple Watches, etc. but I had a lot of Amazon gift cards to use from the holidays, and figured this was worth the risk just in case I got a dud.
It's exactly as described and pictured! You pair it with your iPhone when you turn it on, and it's pretty user-friendly, although I did do a lot of research before purchasing. I will say I had a bit of trouble at first sliding the bands (I switched to the M/L one), but now that I've figured it out it's easy! I'd definitely recommend buying a screen protector at the same time so you can put that on right away and not worry about it. Also of note, this is absolutely a Series 2 watch - I have seen other products on Amazon where sellers claim a product is the new Series 1 and buyers claim it is actually Generation 1... Not to worry here! There are videos on YouTube that explain the differences between them, so when you get yours you can do that if you wish to check - it's what I did, and you can never be too careful.
I especially love that this Series 2 watch is waterproof and has GPS, both of which allow for a greater range of recorded activities. I can tap the date at the top left and bring up my calendar for the day. Depending on which watch face you choose (and you can change from minute to minute), I can tap on the outdoor temperature to bring up the forecast. I can see what my heart rate is, see my progress on activity goals, and start recording a specific exercise. I can control the music I want played out of my iPhone (great when I'm walking outside with headphones on). I can text using the voice control, and I can conjure up Siri. Many apps that are compatible with the iPhone are also compatible with the Watch. The biggest downside is that you need to know the icons that represent the apps you want to open since there's no keyboard and therefore no search capabilities -- you move the icons around with your finger until you find the one you want.
So far, at least, the charge lasts from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed. I charge it overnight, every night, but I suspect it might last at least halfway through another day. Last night, for example, I had a 45% charge remaining when I went to bed. The 38mm is perfect for a women's wrist, and it's so lightweight that I'm not conscious of wearing it except when it vibrates to indicate a message/notification or when I go to use a specific app. If you have large wrists, you might have to buy a bigger band; I have relatively small wrists, and I have only four notches remaining.
I've tried several smart watches, and none are as elegant with the user interface and functionality. The Pebble comes the closest, but now that they've sold their company to FitBit, the Apple Watch has little or no competition in terms of quality. Yeah, the Apple Watch isn't cheap, but you CAN get one of the lower priced ones. If you want the waterproof and GPS capabilities, you'll want the Series 2. The processor is also supposedly faster -- I have nothing to compare it to so I don't know how much of a difference that makes.
The funny thing is that I wasn't sure I wanted an Apple Watch despite loving new technology. Now I'm sure that I will wear this every day.
