I bought this hoping it would be an easy replacement for my LL6300 NuTone Hood but with the expectation that I would need to do some modifications to get it working. There is a part sold by Broan-NuTone but I wasn't going to spend extra money on a part that might not work for my hood. I was more hopeful after receiving it and comparing it to the nasty original I pulled from the hood. It looked very much like the original but with a different connector. After installing I noticed how much was actually different and decided to try to get it working anyways. Here is a list of what I did to get it working on my LL6300 NuTone Hood. Remember that is worked specifically for me, I'm comfortable with electronics and was not intimidated by this project. Your results could vary and only take on projects within your comfort level and proper knowledge. Remember to turn off the power at the power panel to make sure you don't short something out or hurt yourself!
Step one: Compare parts, they look almost like a perfect match, bend bracket slightly to match mounting holes.
Step two: Compare connectors, obviously different, original is square, new has a V angle at the end.
Step three: Compare pins and wires, colors are different and the pins are bigger on the new unit, they will not squeeze into the mating connector of the old unit.
Step four: Cut connector off new unit, break connector off hood, cut old connector off, prepare wires, join wires together. Red to red wire, white to yellow wire, black to blue wire. I used wire nuts, I considered solder but I wanted this to be somewhat easily replaceable if this needs to be changed again in the future.
Step five: Turn it on and verify air is flowing out the vent. If this happens for you then congratulations! This was not the case for me, the fan was pulling air from the vent and blowing it to the range.
Step six: Remove fan blade, remove bracket, remove fan motor, flip motor and install everything on the opposite side from how it came.
Step eight: Test again, this time it worked, fan was blowing air out the vent and the trap door had enough pressure to open.
Again, these are the steps I took to get this working for me. I do not suggest you try this, but if you are set on modifying your LL6300 NuTone Hood then make sure you are very comfortable and know your way around electronics.
I tried just reversing the bracket but the fan wasn't building enough pressure from the lower position to open the trap door so I had to disassemble it and flip it to get the fan closer to the trap door.
In conclusion: If you are buying this for your LL6300 NuTone Hood then be aware that this is not a direct replacement and prepare to do modifications to get your hood retrofitted and working properly. 5 stars for giving my hood an extra chance at life.
At the end of the day I wonder if I was smart for getting this working on my LL6300 Nutone Hood or a fool for not buying a new hood free of many decades of someone else's grease and guaranteed to have a working fan.
Now to wait for the replacement grease filter and light cover and hope I don't need to modify those too!
