After reviewing it.. here's some thoughts.
This is a fantastic resource for those who don't have the time (or dedication I guess) to look up every program and find all their pre req courses, minimum GPAs, etc. There is a lot of information given for each program - the most helpful for me is the class profile with the average GPA and average healthcare hours. However, about 1/2 of the programs in this book have these statistics.
You can easily look up this information online. In fact, I suggest you gauge what schools you can apply to based on your completed pre reqs and GPA but go ahead and look up the program online yourself to make sure you met all their requirements. If you go to the FAQ section on the programs' website, you can find statistics such as accepted students' GPAs that are NOT listed in this book. Additionally, some schools are more specific about how their pre req gpa is calculated and this book doesn't disclose that. RESEARCH the programs you're going to apply to and don't 100% go by the information in this book.
I was able to make a broad list of schools I qualify for.. but you will NEED additional research. This book is a great starting point.
It's a must buy! Could you find all this information online on the websites of each school? Yes... Will you be able to keep track of the differences between each program? Probably not. You can have all the details laid out in front of you so you don't spend months google searching so I definitely recommend!
One thing I wish that this book contained is the GRE codes for the programs that require the GRE as these codes can sometimes be tricky to find in all the writing on the website. This is why I rated the book a 4/5 (really would've rated it a 4.5/5 if possible).
Overall, I highly recommend purchasing this manual! It will save you tons of time.
This book is a HUGE time saver when applying to PA schools- every pre-pa student MUST buy!! Totally worth the money. Lays out all the schools out there with all the information you need to know about it all in one place.
