"Approaches to Auschwitz is brilliant in its pedagogy, authoritative in its understanding, and bold in its impact. It ranks as an original work of scholarship and among the finest--if not the finest--of the texts that professors can choose for their class."

And I am re-reading the books thirty plus years later. This book though is more recent. And this is one of the best overview type of books on the Holocaust.,including the theological consequences of the Holocaust.
Regarding Judaism, the authors do not realise that Rabbinical Judaism is not Biblical Judaism - in fact Rabbinical Judaism is no Judaism at all ( as Roman Catholicism is to Christianity). Aside from the fact that The Lord Jesus Christ destroyed Judaism with His ultimate sacrifice one must ask why Rabbinic Jews do not obey the Laws of God regarding sacrifice today ? Without sacrifice Judaism is nothing - hence Christianity. Indeed if all Rabbinic Jews understood the Torah and the the rest of the Old Testament , they would be Christians ! ( Isaiah 9:6 kjv)
If this book is a major book on so-called Holocaust Theology then students need to be aware of these errors . The above remarks are comments of just the first 70 pages !
Christianity had nothing to do with with the Holocaust or any form of ethnic cleansing throughout History. If the Lord Jesus Christ commanded His people to wage war then Christianity would rule the world for no one can stay His hand . Ironically , the Israeli Jews today have been instigating ethnic cleansing against Arabs since 1948 and the world turns a blind eye simply because Jews play the Antisemitism card - they get away with murder just as the Nazis did in the Warsaw ghetto .
For those who know little Theology ( as Roth & Rubenstein ) , the Bible describes all non-Christians whether Jew, Nazi, Roman Catholic, Atheist, Mormon, Muslim, Hindu, Buddist, Hedonist , etc etc as having the Devil as their Father . It is not a racial problem. Christianity is Spiritual - all else is of the world ( see 1 Corinthians 2:14). There are two types of people on this planet - Christians and non-christians (Genesis 1- Revelation 22)
