Can anyone comment on the language / violence / sexuality used in the film? I haven't let my son watch Gotham Knight yet (great animated film from a couple years ago). Should middle school kids see "Year One?"

I'd wait until he's at least in high school. There are mentions of prostitution in the movie. Selina (Catwoman) is a prostitute.

Wait until he's 14-16. In addition to Fettster's statement, this is very small on the Batman aspect and the action in it is fairly brutal and could possibly scare a kid.

Mr. X says:
This version of batman is just shy of a R rating. Think of a somewhat toned down Sin City.

Doesn't a "PG-13" rating say it all???

Ryan says:
Not quite, Revenge of the Sith/Star Wars Vi is PG 13, and if I were to take a scale for that one and Batman: Year One, one of those would almost need a rating called "PG-15" or "PG-16".

If you would let your kids watch a mild action movie at home, you'd be fine letting them watch this. Violence is seen often but expected. This is Batman after all. There is a graphic scene when Bruce Wayne's parents are murdered at gunpoint. No nudity but there is a section of the movie referencing prostitution and strip clubs. There are a few infrequent profanities such as damn, hell and b***h. Not as bad as most action films but, still probably not a movie to bring to class and show fellow students though.
